Off Road Engineering Package

M-B also adds an underbody "skid plate" with the package, which I don't find to be that necessary on this vehicle, but it can't hurt. Unfortunately, we don't get the added lift and air suspension available in other markets to enhance that off road package.

See the last paragraph of my other post. It is some sort of composite panel that extends rearward, past the transmission, covering almost everything side to side. I was a a little surprised the rear diff. was left hanging out there uncovered, given the massive size of the front panel.

I ordered it on my 2020 GLC. Have not used it yet, but do go off road with some regularity. The last 15 years of doing that was in a string of 3 Subaru Outbacks. Subaru's AWD system is among the best. The 2015 Outback I traded in on the GLC was equipped with "X-Mode", which I believe is similar to the offroad engineering package software on the GLC. It basically micromanages traction in the nasty stuff. For the little it cost as an option, it was a no brainer for me. It could make the difference between getting stuck or getting out, when traction is really bad. The X-Mode saved my cookies more than once when I got a little too adventurous.

What sort of terrain? What type of tracks/trails? I live in the Southern California desert, not too worried about traction it's more ground clearance over rocky portions

Okay, gonna make this clear, the GLC isn't a wrangler. But it does have decent ground clearance, but coming from a guy who drives Minis and BMW M2s, The answer might not be too helpful.
