GLC300 stalling while driving at various speeds

2016 GLC300 first started stalling at 65-75 mph while using cruise control. Dealer fixed it about 10 months ago and although the car was just over 50k miles, it was less than 3 years old, so the dealer covered the repair cost. Now, 10 months later, the same problem is occurring and has been stalling at conditions from 25mph - 75mph, with and without cruise control. The car just stalls while driving and in order to get it started again, you need to pull to the shoulder and turn the car off, then on again. Dealer is investigating cause now.

questions:
1. Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, what was the cause/fix?
2. Would you expect dealer to cover cost of this repair, given they fixed it as warranty repair in the past and it is reoccurring? Note: car has 70k miles and is 46 months from purchase. (standard warranty is 48 months/50k miles)

thanks, TMH

That really stinks. I had a 90's Jaguar that did the same thing, and the kicker is that you have to pull to a complete stop, go in park, and then start it. Miss the days you could throw it in neutral and turn the key to fire the engine and just keep going. That is a major f-up by car manufacturers.

It took them 4 tries to get it on that car, but in the end it was a faulty throttle body. That would be my number one suspect on any car with the same symptoms, but there's about 20 other things it could be.

REPLY TO STALLING

My car has stalled 6 times just driving down the road in a 1 1/2 week period. My low tire light was during 4 times when it happened within two day period. Secondly the weather was pretty wet the same day or previous day. it was usually after driving for 30 miles and the second or third time when starting & turning the car off then starting again. I think it may be the aux. battery or the voltage regulator ?? Also it was always happened in ECO mode. Twice if happened at going speeds 30 mph. and the collision prevention light came on. Each time it happened it threw a trouble code. But the light would go off after driving with 2-3 starts & or about 50 miles. I been using the individual mode with Sport +; for the last 3- weeks and it has not occurred since. My car has 42k miles.

My does not stall but goes to “engine protection mode”. While driving on a highway at 60 – 70 mph steady speed, 9th gear, trying to accelerate slightly I can feel a jolt and car get stuck in 9gear. Power goes down so I cannot even maintain the speed. I had to pull over to the shoulder and restart the car. It is not safe! This started to happen after the B2 service with PTCU (powertrain control unit) software update a week or so ago. The car is at the dealer right now (2 days already). Apparently, they are working on it. Car is 3 years old with 38k miles on the odo.

Anyone had an issue with the software update?
