Built-in dash cam for 2020
The cluster behind the center rearview mirror is getting bigger and bigger... now it includes a dash cam. This is in addition to the front camera if you have the parking pkg with the 360 surround view.
so far its purpose is part of the new MBUX navigation for augmented reality. When guiding you with navigation, as you approach an upcoming turn, the MBUX screen cuts to the dash cam, and street names and arrows of travel augment the real time camera footage. Pretty cool.
what would be even better is if MB starts offering cloud storage of dash cam recording as a service.... that has to be in the works...
