Has anyone found a way to default the engine auto stop/start to the disabled setting on startup? (I.e. the opposite of the defaulted to "On" that comes from the factory)
I realize MB is "forced" to set the cars this way (at least in the US) to abide by their EPA numbers, but are there any "hidden menus" or anything?
The only way I have seen is through a 3rd party shop who is able to re-program the vehicle to 'remember' all settings from when you last drove the car.
A shop here in Toronto Specializes in MB mods and that is one that is offered at a very cheap price of $50.00/CAD
Used this for my 2018 GLC and love it. Took less than a minute to install - and you can turn it back on again and it remembers last setting - This guy may have one for the 2020 also -
That's exactly what I would want...except that $129 is painful! If it didn't lock itself to one car (per description), I could maybe see getting this and using it on a few cars. But paying $129 for one car is a bit crazy IMHO.

+1. Used the same tool. Takes one min and works as described.
For an additional $, you can unlock extra power in your engine. Contact seller with your VIN and he will provide you all options for your car.
The eBay programming tool works as advertised. Fair price? The creator reverse engineered the MB software, built the hardware module and markets it. the GLC is not a high volume car compared with a similar model from Ford or GM. We’re lucky it is available at any price. Worth it for me.
because pushing a button and turning it off FOR FREE is so hard. what a ridiculous thread
Thanks Captain Obvious. Did you figure that out all by yourself?
I'm sure someone will figure out how your post addresses the original question. Until then, glad you took the time to give us your opinion. You know what opinions are like, right?
Is there any long term damage to the car with the constant turning on/off of the engine? I don't mind the auto on/off but I do worry about any long term effects of it to the car.

Im not sure is on/off is working when engine is cold, if it does its the worst part, also Im not sure if oil pump is still working while engine is off, if it doesn't oil gets down and as we all know biggest wear happens in the first seconds while oil get where it should be. And I think its extra stress on the chain each time when it it starts.
This is how I see it. But Im not mechanic and probably wrong.
Question is what is the long term? Im sure car designed to last till the warranty is expired with probably 50% buffer.
Engine has to reach operating temp before auto stop/start is enabled. No, oil pump does not work if engine is off. I read that MB beefed up the starter to handle the start/stop feature, but there is no way of knowing the long term performance of the hardware. The minimal fuel savings is not worth the tradeoff in potentially increased maintenance in my opinion.
As posted previously, I'm very happy with the defeat software from eBay.
