I am still hopeful it is available in Canada. I will try it later this week. If not... I hope someone develops a software hack. (Lots of things can get hacked!)

1st of all. No the dash cam is not available in Canada.

2nd, Fuse layout in the driver side 200 series completely changed for 2020.
Attachment 439778

216 used to be the golden ticket. But as you can see it's now gone.

Anyone got a new fuse map or can have access to one? It's not like there is a lot of choices here. I ain't touching alarm at 202 and 211 and 213 are both always on.

Well... I bought a software hack to my C43 so my kids could watch DVD's on my centre screen even when driving. I hope someone can figure out how to get this camera enabled - I would pay it!

@FastE mentioned in a different thread...I paid for the "hack" to disable auto stop/start, and that was delivered on time and works perfectly. I asked that same gentleman to try to enable the dashcam for me and he was willing to try...in fact, he sent me two different attempts and neither worked so he kind of walked away from it at the time.

It looks like it's "subscription enabled" somehow...that is, if you look at the settings, it would appear it could be updated OTA (or disabled OTA), so maybe that's where the trouble lies.

Either way, if you find someone who's successful in enabling it in North America, please do let us know!

I have also written the DVD people. I have not heard back thought :-(. I will definitely update if I hear back.

I am still unable to find a solution for this. My car has a camera... the fancy Nav uses it.

Dealer will enable, but only on 2021 model and newer, for $200 bucks, as an option....

I am sure a hack will be out at some point, now that the code is written

Yeah, I can't believe they wouldn't take your $200 on a 2020 and enable it (if the equipment is present). I mean, I believe the information, I just don't believe MB-USA wouldn't take the "easy money".

Can you remember which fuse you used (eg 457 cigar lighter front ?) and how how you ran the cable through to the boot (trunk) ? Have just got myself a UK 2020 GLC 300 and looking to hardwire a Nextbase front cam. Any help appreciated.

In my case it is MB Canada, and will the only dealer in town do this?

After reading through all the good advice and ideas on mbworld, decided just to crack on with the front Cam install. Was a bit nervous about running wires along the roof liner, under all the side airbags, so took the low road towards the rear fusebox which is the only place to find switched fuses. I chose to piggy back 457 (front cigar lighter) and there were a number of handy negative earth points within easy reach. The route took my along the front headliner, down driver's A pillar, past the driver-side fusebox, under the driver sill plate, through bottom of the B pillar, under the rear passenger sill, into the boot (trunk). Removal of the the trim was reasonably straightforward, except for the small rear panel which enabled me to run wiring from the sill safely through into the boot. It was really jammed in by the rear seat back, but came out with a little persuasion.

Really pleased with the end result, not a wire to be seen and all safely tucked and tied. Thanks to all.

i'm curious, is it not possible to use "seat heating 305/306" or "exterior mirror function 302" or "sunroof, tilt 312,317" as a switched source for a dashcam instead of running wire to the rear?

Any switched fuse is probably fine. Buy an "add a fuse" (and make sure it's the right size in both amperage and physical dimensions), and you should be fine.

yea that's what i'm thinking but not sure why other's are saying that only switched (ACC) are in the rear for 2020+ GLCs.

also, when you say the same size/amp, do you mean just move the original one that add-a-fuse is being added too? because the bottom and top slots are separate circuits( 12v out) . so as long as keeping the original fuse at the bottom slot, the top can be a different amp fuse.

Yes. Your understanding of the "add a fuse" and mine are the same. That's how I would do it.
