Installing LED Lights on '20

Hi, guys. I just purchased a '20 GLC last week (will be delivered tomorrow). I'm interested in purchasing some LED lights to swap out the yellow tinted ones for the interior and license plate. Has anyone replaced any or all of these lights on a '20 yet? Is there anything special or specific I should know prior to replacing the lights? I've replaced all of the lights before on my Mazda CX-5, but not sure if the job on a Mercedes is as easy. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Are they? I didn't think that they were, but like I said, I don't have the car yet and when I test drove it I thought they were standard yellow. Does anyone know for certain? If so, I won't waste the money ordering tonight on Amazon.

That's the ambient lighting. I'm talking about the dome, backseat, glove compartment, vanity and rear view mirror lights. I don't think those are white LED, are they?

I would think that would be so. I'll hold off on ordering and see for myself when the car is shipped. Thanks for the response.

I think they are LED, but they are in warm color by default. ie, yellow color.

You can change the colors of the dome, back, rear view mirror lights, etc.? I thought you could only change ambient lighting colors?

No.....unless you buy new replacement 'bulbs' as the OP was intending.

The OP was me. If they are LED, but yellow, then I'd want to switch out for white LEDs. Has anyone switched out the interior lights?

Oops....apologies.
I suppose it depends on how exactly you define 'yellow'! I find the interior lights to be very bright and effective....then again I have the cream seats and headliner which probably makes the interior look brighter than a black interior would look.

No problem.

Yeah, mine is black seats with crystal grey headliner. I recall it looking very yellowish. Not sure why they wouldn't put in full white LED's in the cabin.

Definitely has LEDs inside. I prefer the warmer color rather the whitish/blue LEDs in my old RX350. It gives the cabin a warmer, more inviting feeling. If you evaluate indoor lighting, usual a warm or soft white (2700k) is used for more bedrooms while a whiter (5000k) is used in work areas

Thanks for the response. I'll check them out and see if I am fine with the warmer color vs the white LEDs I was contemplating purchasing. If I do go that route and want to replace all of them, I'll need to find out how much of a job it is. Hopefully it's just as simple as popping off cover/housing and snapping lights in.

I dont think is pop and replace too. Especially the light in the center light control area. I remeber the car has 4 led bulbs inside the transparent cover there. I am not sure if they are one strip or individual bulbs inside. Also I remember the reading lamp seems to be integrated in the rearview mirror as well. I may be wrong because I am still waiting my Glc to arrive.

I'm still waiting for mine to arrive, so I'll have to check it once I get it. I've read that the review view mirror and license plate lights aren't easy and require disassembling.

None of them are removable bulb LEDs, and will require soldering the chips off the board to replace with a different color.

Oh wow. Good to know. I had no idea about that. Thank you for the info. I'll save my money and not buy the replacement bulbs.

I see that they are kinda yellow. I think it looks better on magma gray which I have and beige. White bulbs otherwise, but reconfiguration must be done, bulbs are not removable.

That's too bad because I was looking forward to switching out the yellowish lights for a more white tint. I guess that's one job I will not be partaking in. I'll just leave them as they are.

Are none of the bulbs removable throughout the entire interior? Back seat, glove box, etc.?

I know the vanities are not removable neither are the trunk lights. Others I'm not sure.

Sounds like none of them are going to be. No problem. I'll just keep what I have.
