Anyone got touch up paint pen from dealer recently?
Got a small but noticeable scratch on the hood. Probably got it from washing the car. It might be deep enough that I can feel it with fingernail. Wet it with water and it doesn't go away to confirm it is a paint scratch.
Anyway, called up two dealers. Both quoted a different part number and price. I provided the VIN to both so I don't how there is two different part number.
It is for 2020 GLC with Selenite Grey metallic.
Can anyone confirm which one is correct? Both prices are crazy high for a pen of touch up paint and clear coat. Am I better off getting it from any body shop since all they need to the color code?
PN 000-986-23-50-7992 $47.20 plus tax
PN 986-23-50-09-9197 $40 plus tax

Isn't it supposed to be free with new car? I didn't get any touch up paint with my cars lately, but back int he days I used to get them free (if car didn't come with it I could ask dealer and get it free).
If you want to know if damage is real, do two things: fingernail test (which you did) and carefully clean it with Meguiars #2 (M0216 M2 Mirror Glaze Fine-Cut Cleaner). It should remove anything embedded in clear coat (not to confuse with clay bar, which will remove particles on top of clear coat). If Meguiars #2 takes care of it, don't forget to follow with a coat of polish and then a sealant or wax.

Yep, came here to say this. I asked the dealer for touch-up paint, but they wanted like $50-60 for it. I played dumb and texted the sales guy I worked with and he mailed a bottle to me for free. It's the little victories that feel the best, kids.

That is so crazy. I wonder if they charged me the wrong price when I went in. I have Mojave silver, which is also metallic and paid $22, which I thought was fair as I spent $25 for regular white on a Chevrolet blazer.

How far "back in the day" are you referring to?
Are you referring to Mercedes-Benz giving free paint with purchase?

Wife was in for B Service this week. Asked to buy touchup paint. We're in Cali. Dealer told her can't be sold in California. Had the paint shop do the work. Were going to charge $96, but the paint guy was painting something else with same color, and I imagine felt guilty about the two tiny rock chips and ended up doing it for free.

I moved from Cali not even 5 years ago and it sounds odd to me. Last time I was in an AutoZone there, I'm sure they sold touch up paint but who knows what the CARB folks out there come up with.

Can you share the before / after pics of the repair by using the touch up paints? I have a few paint chips in my Selenite Grey GLC and considering the same, dealer is asking 28$ for the paint.

I recently bought touchup paint on Amazon (040 Black) for two minor scratches. Non- metallic is easier than metallic, but mine was a perfect match and I paid about $12.
