Need help with Radar Detector

I have a 2020 GLC 300 and I am looking to install a radar detector. Valentine 1 comes with the hardwire kit but I am thinking to tap into the rearview mirror. I tried searching youtube and I am not able to find any videos on how to. I want other people's opinion on best and easiest method to install the radar. I also have a lease so will need something that i will be able to undo when lease is over.

I had my V1 (Gen 1) installed in my 2017 GLC 300 by a local stereo shop. They tapped into the driver's side fuse box and ran the line up the A-pillar, and also hid the V1 Connection LE Bluetooth module in the driver's side dash. Everything is hidden except the RJ11 connector, which peeks out of the trim at the top of the windshield near the mirror.

I installed my Escort detector in my GLC 300 after reading about the hardwire install on this forum. It was actually quite easy.

I don’t recall what the purple module is (although I think I looked it up at one time).
I did not wire directly to the fuse box. I figured, why bother. That’s what the mirror tap is for.
I tapped in to the two wires for the mirror and it worked perfectly.

No. There’s no need to splice if you buy the tap kit. It’s a simple pin insertion to the connector.

yea but what wire you talking about because I did not see a specific wire that goes into the mirror? I see like 3-4 modules so I tapped into the purple one. Issue is that it is active even when powered off. All others I checked are the same.

You might want to read the other thread that is referenced above. It contains a lot of useful information on which wires to use.
Here’s a pic of the wires that I used. Hope this helps.

I used the green (+) and the brown (ground) and inserted the pins from the tap kit into and alongside of those wires where they entered the connector body.

Power is present as soon as your door or hatch is opened or unlocked. Power is removed shortly (maybe a minute or two) after you lock the car via touch or fob.
