Anyone have any ideas what this noise could be? I hear it as a ping or a beep but maybe it's a whistling sound. It comes from the engine compartment but I can't tell where. It seems to happen after the car has been driven and has cooled down for maybe an hour? It will stop as soon as the engine is started again. It happens anywhere from up to 1 minute between sounds or as quickly as every few seconds. I can't drive it to the dealer and reliably get the sound because it doesn't do it as soon as stopped and I don't know if it always does it after a delay. The MB tech listened to the recording and thought it was maybe something under pressure releasing.
I hear the same whistle & click sound whenever I push the 2017 GLC engine start button without pressing the brake pedal. So engine is not started but all the dash lights on.
I opened the hood to try to find where the sound comes, I think it's from the throttle body.
Maybe.. it's trying to check the position of the throttle valve?
I can get that sound but I'm not sure it's the same as the one I'm hearing. Pressing the start button as suggested produces a clicking sound and then later I hear a "whistling" sound, then that's it. It's sort of like my sound but a bit quieter and longer and once only. My sound is after driving and the car has been stationary for a while and it repeats with variable frequency. I noticed it after driving the car and working in the garage. I haven't driven the car and waited in the last few days so I can't check the radiator cap idea. Maybe this weekend.
