Wife likes GLC 350 and GLC 350e
Hey Guys,
New to this forum. Better known on the AMG side with highly tuned 2015 E63s
So unfortunately the wife had a mishap recently in her beloved GLK 350. Geico just Total Lossed it.
Personally, I kinda like the look of the GLE 350 but wife says it’s too big for her. So looks like GLC.
In initial looking around it looks like the hybrid 350e is slower than the straight 350??
We will be likely looking in the 2018/2019 used range.
What options, if any, would be ones to look for?
Any known systematic issues with the glc 350 platform? Btw, I hope I am in the correct forum. Lol. Looked like glc 300. Closest I found though.
Anyway thanks in advance.

As far as I know there is no GLC350. Your choice is either a GLC300 or GLC350e hybrid. If you want better performance you could look at the GLC43 AMG. The ride is quite a bit harsher than either the GLC300 or GLC350e and of course more $.
[edit] Ooopps, I was typing while you were posting.

however, my wife could care less as long as it’s not a pig.
specs seem to show the 4matic is 5.4 0-60 vs only 6.1 for 2WD. Can’t imagine these cars have hook-up issues. 😂 so this seems s little weird to me.
Is the hybrid actually slower than the non hybrid? Read that somewhere.

Sorry to hear about the wreck. Glad everyone is okay. I'm also new here and am currently driving my trusty 2013 GLK 350 that I got from the dealership's service loader program. I just got in the system to order a GLC 300. I bet it won't arrive until May ... I've never purchased a new car in my life, but since I drive them for 10 years I figure I should get what I want and not pay for features that I don't use.
Mercedes upgraded the GLC infotainment system for 2020 so I recommend getting one 2020 or newer. My husband drives a 2018 Audi Q5, and we really like it.

BTW hope your wife was ok after her mishap. Those GLKs seem to be built like vaults, my wife wants to keep hers forever...

I'm pretty sure that the hybrid is quicker than the gasser. The electric motor adds something like (I think) 100+ HP. Some more weight but quite a bit more power.

I always suspected that old brake jab to put brake in hold mode for relaxing your leg could burn someone one day. As a product design engineer it just seemed like it could be a liability. And it was for her.
She totaled her car in 8 feet of movement. She was behind a big utility truck at a light and was looking at the dog while she went to jab the brake pedal. She found the throttle instead. 🙄
Not a scratch on the truck in front of her and airbags did not employ. Looked like about $5k to $7k damage. Initial estimate was $6500. Then after disassembly, they hiked it to $16,500. Very sketchy to me.
This car look totaled to you guys? Said BB value was about $20k and since we were over 80% they totaled it. No frame damage and headlights looked fine as well. Like I said, sketchy.

Seems a bit of a stretch to me too, although replacement and calibration of electronics and sensors make write-offs ridiculously common these days. Pity, nice looking car.
Looking as critically as I could, it's difficult to see where $16.5K comes from. Did a tow hook or something similar puncture the rad, trans cooler or engine mechanicals? There don't seem to be any fluid leaks.
I've heard that insurance companies make it really difficult to buy back and fix a write off because they either won't insure the vehicle or will change insane rates going forward. Checking with them can't hurt though because it seems pretty unlikely that any structural damage was done.

My car got side swiped by a farm implement which ended up creating about $30k in damage. It was less than a year old so it was repaired. What I found out is that my insurance company didn't have much experience repairing premium cars. One big expense was that the body harness that wraps around the whole car was severed. The insurance adjuster thought he could call a junkyard and get a used one. Then he found out that each harness is built specifically to the options for the vehicle. Very unlikely a used one would even work if they found it.
To karmikan's point, the dealership had a very difficult time getting all the electronics modules communicating and happy. I believe they had it an extra month getting that all worked out. The big issue was the module in the driver side rear door to work. Windows and locks didn't work. Two years later all is still good. Knock on wood.
