Wrong!!!

Oil for differentials that you mentioned is true, but oil for transfer case is wrong. It is necessary to fill with 236.15 not 235.15.
236.15 oil is ATF for 7g Tronic although your gearbox is 9g tronic you need to add 236.15.
235.15 is for differential (75w85 GL-5 Hypoid gear oil).

You are correct.

I searched all the docs. and found Transfer Case oil spec, 235.15, is only from DanD's uploaded PDF above, "Transfer case - oil change.pdf (87.1 KB)".

All other PDF and MB official web site says, TC oil to be 236.15 or 236.17 which is ATF spec.

Question to DanD, Please check your 2017 PDF with 235.15 . Maybe typo or revised by MB?

I changed the TC oil with 235.15 75w85 based on the PDF at 210Kkm. and drove 70Kkm since, so far no issue, and I might change it to 236.15 ATF in a few months. Or maybe just keep it since G-wagen transfer case is still using 235.xx gear oil, and many oil specs were changed because of the milage/CAFE/efficiency etc, not metal protection.

Anyway, I compared, DanD's 2017 Pdf and 2019 Pdf. and MB official 2026 Pdf on the web below;

2017   VS  2019
2017 VS 2019

????? 235.15 ?????  VS.  !!!!! 236.15 !!!!
????? 235.15 ????? VS. !!!!! 236.15 !!!!

https://operatingfluids.mercedes-benz.com/sheet/231.1     2026 MB Official

Summary correct oil spec:
  • Rear diff MB 239.71 (alternative =Redline 75W-85 =Fuchs Titan Sintopoid FE SAE 75W-85 )
  • Transfer Case MB 236.15 or 236.17 (=Valvoline Maxlife ATF =LIQUI MOLY Top Tec ATF 1950 )
  • Front diff MB 235.7 or 235.74 (=Redline 75W-85 =Fuchs Titan Sintopoid FE SAE 75W-85 )

DO NOT use FUCHS in the rear differential. Only use Rear Axle (normal differential) 75w-85; 239.71 (A001 989 88 03, ss’d to A001 989 73 04 11 PDNW). The compatibility by FUCHS on their containers has not been updated. Their compatibility was based on their recommendation and has since been delisted by MB. There are only 3 fluids that MB recommends for the rear diff - two of them are not available in the USA. Only the MB part number listed above is available in the USA.

The FUCHS will result in a groaning noise while turning at low speeds.

FUCHS remains compatible with the front diff per 235.7.

[CITAT=kjb55;9263047]NE koristite FUCHS u zadnjem diferencijalu.

FUCHS će rezultirati zvukom stenjanja prilikom okretanja malim brzinama.

FUCHS ostaje kompatibilan s prednjim diferencijalom prema 235.7.[/CITAT

Thank you very much bro!!!! I have changed all oils and fluids in my GLC 250d Coupe 2017 before 800 kilometers approximately 550 miles.
I have that issue, humming while turning at low speed, forward and reverse. Few days I am trying to find the reason of it.
Is it late to replace that oil with genuine MB oil?
And is it useful to add some additive to Fuchs oil?
Also I think that I overfilled oil in fron differential about 650ml instead 550ml. Can it harm a differential?

I used:

Front differential (Fuchs Titan Sintopoid FE 75W-85)
Rear differential (Fuchs Titan Sintopoid FE 75W-85)
Transfer case (Fuchs ATF 7134 236.15)
9g Tronic transmission (Fuchs ATF 9134 236.17)

Kind regards

I went 300 miles on the groaning FUCHS fluid in the Rear Diff before figuring it out and did two flushes with the MB fluid. Within 100 miles on the first change to MB the humming / groaning noise went away completely, did a second time for peace of mind and everything is fine.

From what you used:

Front = OK
Rear = switch to the MB fluid ASAP
Transfer case = You note having the 9 speed transmission. The MB operating fluids specifies 236.17 for 9 speed transfer case. And that would be the FUCHS 9134.
9G = OK

MB 236.15 is necessary for transfer case even if the transmission is 9g tronic. There is no mistake according to all instructions about GLC maintenance.
But I will replace rear differential oil as soon as possible.
THANK YOU again, I hope the noise will disappear.

There is a bit of confusing information from MB...

From this link: https://operatingfluids.mercedes-benz.com/sheet/231.1 ; Page 12 is the correct application. Then 253 with 725.0 (my 2018 is 725.058); both 236.15 and .17 are approved.
From this link: https://operatingfluids.mercedes-benz.com/sheet/236.15 ; the heading is "236.15 Automatic Transmission Fluids (ATF, Transfer / Automatic)"
From this link: https://operatingfluids.mercedes-benz.com/sheet/236.17 ; the heading is "236.17 Automatic Transmission Fluids (ATF, Transfer / 9-Speed Automatic)"

That's why I went with the 236.17.

As I see 236.17 is also correct fluid type for transfer case. Today I replaced Fuchs by A001 989 73 04 11 PDNW (239.71/239.72), it is better now. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Approved oils for rear differential are:
  • Mercedes Benz Genuine oil 239.71
  • Mobilube FE Plus NG 75W-85
  • Pakelo Rhodium ST
As I know Mobilube is not possible to buy, because they sell it only in 208 liter barrels. (Maybe not true)
Pakelo Rhodium ST is Italian brand and on the bottle of oil I bought today is written "Made in Italy". It may be produced by Pakelo which I couldn't find also in Bosnia and Hercegovina and anywhere in Europe. However I would buy genuine oil, just wanted to see do they sell them.
