Steering wheel vibration
#26
Same problem with my 2022 GLC 300. Purchased certified pre-owned. It was a loaner, 12k miles when I purchased it. Steering vibrated right when I hit the freeway near the dealer. Why it wasn't fixed or noted earlier, I don't know. However, at my first service I'm going to bring it up to be corrected. Sometimes the vibration stops right away, but if there are several bumps on the freeway it can keep vibrating till I slow down or speed up.

Yes, this problem is pretty standard on all the GLC 300s that Mercedes makes. It is a pain to have to take it to the dealership I agree. I had to take mine in 3 times for mine until it was fixed but I found the software update and posted it on here for others to use. Mine is a 2022 GLC 300 as well. Good luck.

Steering wheel vibration solved
I've had the vibration since day 1. Went for one year service, and the vibration was the first item on my "to check list". The service writer said it was a factory electronic update that would correct the problem. I was doubtful, but it did irradicate the problem completely. I don't know if it makes a difference, but my Dealership is Ray Catina of Edison, which is one of the premier dealerships in the country.

So our 2021 GLC has the steering wheel vibration but not so much over bumps. It does it over 45 mph when just slightly turning the wheel. The road conditions don't make any difference.
Will the software update correct this?

I have 2 2022 GLCs both have had the software update for steering wheel vibration. Both still have very slight variation occurring for no apparent reason/event, at least to me. The sales manager at one of the dealerships said when the power steering was changed mid cycle on the GLC the vibration issues began. Was not really listening very carefully to his explanation, however, he believes that there will be a recall down the road, the problem is too widespread for there not to be.
Years ago if there was a problem with any ordinary brand car the explanation was “ hey, you didn’t buy a Mercedes “. Now when you hear about so many quality issues with Mercedes my response is “ hey, you didn’t buy a Lexus “.

I mean I am curious for sure, was hoping to know what are different, I get it the part number is different but what about the actual hardware what was different. Wish someone have the documentation somewhere.

The vibration issue is so widespread, and is not necessarily triggered by a particular event, the balancing of the tires is not the solution in the vast majority of the cases. It was recognized as a software issue by MB, and that has significantly improved the situation once the update was done. IMO there has to be a recall, once MB can figure out what to do, to completely eliminate the problem. I guess a MB sure “ain’t” what it used to be. I still buy them, however, I am quite cognizant of the mediocre reliability and less than stellar resale value of these vehicles. Heck, I know the real simple fix, but why does Lexus have to be so boring?

Don't rule out tire balance as a cause. Software or not.

I think the vibration issue started in 2020, as well as the software Fix. Our early 2019 hasn't experienced the issue. MY MMV.

It's been reported on the x253 forum for a couple of years. Our 2019 doesn't seem to be afflicted.
