Steering wheel vibration
Does anyone experience similar problems? Sometimes, went over holes, or uneven road and so on and so forth, steering wheel vibrated in a high frequency. Dealer said they upgraded whatever software, problem remains.
mine is brand new 2022 GLC.
Not sure if it is quality problem or design issue.
Any insights are appreciated!
Thanks,
Ben

Thanks for your response. I am very surprised to hear the alignment problem for a brand new car. Mine came with minor paint problems too, while made me doubt about MB’s workman ship.
quick follow up question? Does that compromise MB warranty if your car is touched by 3rd party shop?

p.s. I am suggesting it is not an alignment problem, but a plain ole "out-of-balance" tire. So what if they cost $225 each to replace!

Sorry I was looking up the problem and somehow alignment got in my mind.
i noticed on my recent service invoice says MB is working on the software to reduce damping. It makes me wonder if it is a design issue.

It's not an alignment issue. It is definitely a software issue. The steering vibrating when it hits bumps and potholes reminds me of the lane keep assist in my Audis and BMWs. What I noticed was that, when the steering vibration happens, a quick way to stop it is to either increase or decrease the speed abruptly. That always works for me but it is difficult to do so when you are driving on the highway maintaining constant speeds. When there are no other cars around you, can you try what I mentioned and see if it works for you as well? In my GLC (which I bought last month after custom ordering it), sometimes the vibration is so bad that it seems like it takes a long minute before it stops. I read in the other thread that there is no software patch for our newer cars. I have booked an appointment for this issue but now I'm wondering whether I should take the car in or wait since the service center is almost 1.5hrs away from where I live.

I had 2 GLC300 loaners in last 2 months. First one was vibrating and the second wasn't. MB service said that it is a known issue for 2022 GLC300's and the vibrating car needs software update as you stated...

I'd escalate to MB USA.

Im expecting the answer from corporate something like, sure please talk to your dealer to resolve this.
If you search this forum, there is a very long discussion on this subject, technically MB knew about this issues from 2016 year model. And you know the result.
MB marketing does very good job, its cheaper to convince people that MB is the best quality cars "Benz or nothing" rather then delivery that quality. Look around in your car you will find a lot of cheap plastic and so on.

I had the same issue with my 2022 GLC300. I took it to a dealership in LA and they fixed the issue with a software update. The way the guy explained it to me was that there’s something in the software that controls the steering wheel that was overcorrecting when the vehicle hit a bump at higher speeds. The specific language that was on my invoice (covered under warranty) was: “connected battery charger, connected xentry diagnosis, performed update of (electric power steering) control unit, cleared associated fault codes, no further faults at this time”

I called the MB dealership in peoria,AZ and they knew about this happening. Had me stop in and they.
connected SDS, connected charger, performed electric steering software update.
corrected the steering wheel vibration after hitting bumps
So they do have a solution, I'd only question if they know of this, why not have the update already installed.
Dealership even vacuumed the inside of car, then washed and dried it

Yes I just bought a 2022 GLC300 4MATIC this past weekend and mine does the exact same thing you are talking about. I complained about it to the dealership and they said it needs a steering wheel software update LI46.35-P-062791
Once this is installed it should fix the shake.

Yes I find it very weird as well. It ruined my car buying experience with Mercedes-Benz, that is for sure. They claim they are not "required" to look at that specific issue so they skip it and let the new owner deal with it. The dealership is at fault I think but there isn't much we can do about it...

The left side. Some of the roads there are non existent. If GLCs there had this issue, the steering wheel would never stop vibrating. Also, why do only GLCs have this issue? Apparently even the C300 doesn't have it. Makes no sense.

Is it possibly an issue with left hand drive vehicles?
I've never experienced this issue with either of my Irish GLCs.
The 'crabbing' issue seems to have been in right hand drive vehicles only!

I wouldn't be surprised! But there are places in Europe that use left hand drive vehicles too right? Like France IIRC? Also the middle east. Wonder if those countries have this issue.

Indeed most of Europe is LHD. .. .but I'm not sure how many non english speaking contributors are on this forum ie most European countries that are LHD are non english as first language.

2022 GLC 300
I have the same issue, I had my Service A recently and also got a dealership loaner. I went over a mancover with the loaner and it also had the same exact vibration. Some of the vibrations last for like 1-2 seconds, other times it can go for like 4-5 seconds. I guess this is a common issue with C classes as I also had a loaner C300 a while back and it also had steering wheel vibrations for 1-2 seconds.
If I were to go back to the dealership to ask for this software update, how should I approach them? Would they get what I'm saying if I just go and ask for this software update to help fix my steering wheel vibration?

Yes you should tell them to install this update. LI46.35-P-062791
You may have to re-create the issue with a service tech but they should be able to install the update once you do that.
Good luck I know it can be a difficult process.
