Hey all, this is more of a general question and not really towards the GLC class specifically. So I drive a GLC 43 and let’s say if a mechanic does an oil change and puts an oil filter that is for a C300 and not compatible for the GLC 43. Would that cause the engine to be blown?
Thank you!
Thank you!
Oil filters fit specific engines and sometimes more than one engine. What is your engine? There was the M276 Engine from 2017-2021. The same filter fit M276 and M278 engines from C300 to Maybach. I do remember two common filter styles. One was a cartridge that you slid onto the filter cap. The other, you inserted into the engine with plastic tip first then screwed the cap on. They are so different that I can't imagine mixing that up.
Go find your engine type. Look up the filter that is suppose to be in there. Remove the filter cap to see which filter was installed. Correct if needed. No need to do an oil change. These filters can be changed in under 10 minutes from under the hood.
