Apple TV In My Car

2017 GLC300 SUV. I installed the Road Top apple car play android auto unit. I ran a male to female HDMI cable from Road Top into the console storage. I used a dremel with sanding cone to sand the little lip so the hdmi cable would fit nicely under the lip (my hdmi cable was pretty thick) so the console could be screwed back down just fine. Ran the Road Top usb cable and Road Top aux cable the same and those two cables tucked to the side of the lip that is there and into the console storage. The aux cable plugs into a Road Top little box with USB on the other end. And That USB is to be plugged into one of the USB ports in console. The other USB female cable is for wired CarPlay/android auto phone plug in. The Road Top supports wireless CarPlay/android auto. I have the Mercedes wifi hot spot service. Plugged the Apple TV into the power outlet in the rear. The power cord fits in between the two console storage arm rest when closed and is where the Apple TV unit is kept. Plugged in HDMI male to male in from the Apple TV to the HDMI female end that I ran from the Road Top unit. Contacted Road Top on how to enable the HDMI port. Then I went to the Road Top system and selected the HDMI port, set up Apple TV to connect to the cars wifi hotspot and viola. \Tried it on a short trip last night and today I’ll try to see if this works on a little bit longer trip. I tried an older google chromecast hooked up to the HDMI cable and extra usb port in the console but it wouldn’t connect to the wifi hotspot but I might try it again later but it is an older chromecast or I did something wrong. I have a newer chromecast I might try. I’m assuming I’ll need to unplug the Apple TV when I shut the car off so that is what I did last night to be safe. Yes this is my first car with a power outlet so I don’t know how it works lol.
