Has anyone installed an aftermarket stealth dash cam in a GLC Coupe? I'm unable to "activate / subscribe" to the MB OEM (forward facing [only]) dash cam on my US-spec 2020 GLC 300 4Matic Coupe via the Mercedes app. Also, none of the dealerships with which I enquired was able to tell me why it's not possible; they just shoot the query down. Apparently the OEM front facing dash cam only became available in MY 2022(?); I may be a year off on that date.

I've seen a YouTube video from a channel called The Flexx Garage. He says he's installed a stealth-ish dash cam using a kit from a vendor called DMP Car Design. (I'm unsure if users are allowed to link YouTube videos so I'll place the URL in a reply to this post. If it's not allowed then I'll ask the moderators to delete that post.)

The kit appears to replace the camera cover adjacent to the rearview mirror adding yet another camera plus wiring to (1) a rear traffic dash cam and (2) the fuse box. The video shows him working on a 2016 (i.e. 2015+) C300 but DMP's website's fitment chart indicates there's a version for a GLC 300 chassis code X253. The new cover includes (1) a space for the new additional dash cam, (2) an internal wiring channel to keep the wires stealthily hidden and (3) a port for an SD card to record the feed(s). The rear traffic facing dash cam can be mounted to the rear window via an adhesive pad.

I'm curious to know if any forum members have attempted this sort of mod and, if so, are you satisfied with the results? Also, from where did satisfied (or unsatisfied) members source the kit?

For the avoidance of doubt, my US-spec 2020 GLC 300 is equipped with the Driver's Assistance Package (DA2), Parking Assistance Package (DA3), Exterior Lighting Package (DA4) and Multimedia Package (DA5). It includes the MB OEM augmented navigation (so there is already [at least] one front facing camera).

Website links and YouTube videos are allowed; they're all over the forums. This looks like a great MOD project: inexpensive, useful, and DIY-able. I contacted the company for R231 compatibility....
