Push-Button Start/Stop Compatibility?
Used 2018 GLC 300 base model, that does have key-less lock and unlock feature, BUT NOT the key-less start option. A friend of mine has a 2014 sedan and has the push-button option in his vehicle. He took his push-button off and let me try it in my ignition. It simply said 'key not detected'. I looked this up online and saw that this can be a situation where the battery in the key-fob is low (I did notice that my auto-sensor unlock/lock) works sometimes and not others. Any thoughts on if my vehicle would possibly allow the push-button start, or would I have to get that whole system installed?

1. Replace your key battery and try again.
2. Get the Datacard for your vehicle.
I’m guessing you do have KeylessGo.

I believe keyless start was standard in many markets starting on the more recent model years of the pre-facelift, keyless go was always an option but keyless start was not as it was standard. The very early ones like 2016 might still be an option though. I remember someone can mimic that button by inserting a tool (dull) some even their finger and turn and the vehicle can start as long as the keyfob is good, did not try it myself. So basically, with vehicles that have keyless start without the button, all you need is that button.

my early cars back to 2000 were all purchased at auction, and auction cars are notoriously "picked over" for any removable accessories. it used to be Bluetooth pucks, then later Keyless Go buttons. Search the forums for "Datacard" and get yours to find out any other options you might not know you have. I'm embarrassed to admit to some of the features I didn't know about until years into owner ship.....
