Pano roof shade problem
GLC 300 - Pano Roof , with 3,500Km
I hardly ever use the pano roof ... Tried it today then this:
The shade got to the open position and never "wanted" to go back to the closed position. It will travel half way then go back a few inches and stays there. After a few trials it will go back completely but never able to close.
During the procedure it makes a ratchetting noise ...
The roof itself operates W/O problems...
Anybody with the same problem out there ???
Heard of it with other MB models???
Would like to hear from you first before heading to the dealer ...

When I was test driving a GLC, I found the pano roof difficult to operate. There's so many different positions you can hold/pull the switch that I just left it alone and figured that I'd learn how to use it when I take deliver of it. Have you tried pressing or holding the switch in all different positions to see if it would move? I think it is possible to leave the shade partially open. Haven't heard about it getting stuck.

The pano roof switch is genius from MB. Other manufacturers will have two buttons while MB has one. Slide it back once will open the shade. Slide it again it will open the pano roof. Push it up, it will tilt the pano roof open. Pull it down to close the shade and pano roof.

Might be genius but now the shade is the retracted position and there is NO WAY to close it. It is stuck there. As I said the roof itself operates normaly...
Anyone with a similar problem?

The mechanism emits a loud clicking sound ... Certainly a warranty issue, but I just wanted to know if this is just a "bad luck" or a MB quality issue for this model.

Pano roof shade problem
My lazyness made me wait so long before asking the dealer to fix the non-operating / stucked pano roof shade.
They told me that they never saw a stuck shade problem but the repair guy that will do the job was used to do those jobs ... WOW !
Anyway ... it now works fine and they had to replace all the parts of the mechanism and the shade itself. No parts were salvageable. They do it from the outside of the car i.e. they remove the glass panel and do the work from there using a ladder. So no need to undo the roof lining, trims and stuff ( that was what worried me ).
It was a 4 hour job under warranty. All is well so far.
They did a good job imo.
I now wonder why I waited so long to have it fix!

In some cases it's incurable.
