My 2023 GLC 300 4matic occasionally makes a loud clunk sound after starting and shifting into reverse. It sounds like an emergency brake or the mild hybrid is locked and released after shifting into park. Universal question: Is anyone experiencing this too, or have you had it identified and fixed? Thanks.

Probably the most-reported sound is the parking brake stuck to the disc, because of rust following a carwash or other dousing.Originally Posted by Redfish0412

The parking brake is automatically applied at shutdown, but if you release it before opening the door (or some other sequence - I'd have to go out and cogitate) you can avoid the rusting. It's not harmful if that's what you're experiencing.
I had a very similar experience and it turned out to be the transmission. Diagnosed as a problem with the valve body.
