I noticed this today too, and it was driving me wild. I usually drive on the freeway, but had to do some city driving today and EVERY stopsign/light the sound would go up and down. Cannot find where to turn it off. I did notice it only seems to do it when the slider is less than halfway though.

Put the volume about 1/4 the way up and drive around with the windows up in the city. Very noticeable. I asked my salesman and he replicated it on the ones he has in-stock but doesnt know how to change it. So this is a “feature” i guess of the car. It’s like they just forgot to include the option to disable
it.

it was really annoying today listening to cnbc before work because it wasnt even music and i couldnt hear anything at every stoplight. It only seems to do it with the volume low. So if youre constantly bumping music, it doesn’t do it. But becomes super apparent with sports/news/etc where it’s just people talking

Not sure if the setting has gone the way of the dodo, but under volume control there should be an "Automatic adjustment" setting. If enabled, it automatically increases the volume as the speed of the vehicle increases to compensate for road noise. This feature has been there forever and I have the setting in my COMAND system.

weird. All the new ones ive tested do it. I didnt really notice the first week. Now i cant unhear it. Im pretty sure yours does it. Unless you have the only one or maybe the ones with the regular sound system dont do it. I have the burmester 3D or whatever system (which by the way is easily the worst out of my 3 cars, even my base model 1lt corvette with the stock sound system is WAY better, i’d hate to hear the standard system)

l went to the dealer today to try to get help and they had a few and they all did it no one could figure it out.

that option for disabling it is not there on the 2023. The whole thing doesnt really make sense. Cars usually do this at high speeds to make up for wind noise. This car does it at very low speeds and complete stops, the opposite of what you would want it to do.

What Burmester audio is in the 2023 GLC? Is it the 3D version or lowest end version? Does it at least come with a subwoofer? Except something saying it has 13 speakers only only 500+watts of power, it doesn't sound hearty.

I noticed this yesterday! The volume will automatically lower ONLY if it's set about 1/4 or less.

3D but its pretty underwhelming. Easily the worst sounding out of all my cars, cant imagine how bad the stock audio system is

I absolutely hate this sound system. I can't believe there is no way to disable this feature. Had I known about this prior to purchasing the vehicle I certainly would have bought a different vehicle. It's annoying.

So the turning off automatic volume adjustment didn't do anything?

Perhaps this is the volume adjustment when the parking sensors activate.
I often listen to audiobooks and found it infuriating that the volume would decrease when the car was put into reverse and when the parking sensors were activated. this was my biggest issue with the new car.
It took me a while to find but I have now disabled the volume adjustment for both these scenarios which has greatly improved the experience.

Ya, good to have a choice if you want that, for some they want it decrease when a call comes, the voice guidance comes on for maps, or in the case you mentioned, parking sensors so the beeps are clearly audible.
