Help! GLC300 - Need advise
I need some help and advice to take the right steps with this.
I have a GLC300 2017. The car has appx 8k Miles only. It's kept since 2019 at a relative home and it is cranked up every 2-3 weeks or so.
6 months ago it was driven 100-150 miles with no issue. It was also serviced then. At that time I was told the battery was at 40% and had 6 months of life left before need to be replaced.
Now, a few days ago the car power was dead and my suspicion was the battery is dead and doesn't hold charge. The car was jump started, and since then no issues starting up. After all, it seems that maybe the headlight were left on and drained the battery, not that the battery is bad. After the jump start the issue didn't persist demonstrating the battery does hold charge . Regardless, the car was taken to the dealership to check on the battery and replace it as needed. The dealership tested everything and released the car as everything being good with it including the battery!! After driving off the dealership and getting on the highway (within a few minutes of leaving the dealership) the car started showing difficulty to accelerate and it seems like the engine misfire. The check engine light came on, and the car was taken back to the shop.
They started diagnostics and saw rat pop, and said that likely something was chowed (engine harness). I didn't believe it and after 2 days they came back with nothing was chowed. BUT 2 fuel injectors are clogged claiming as a result of the car not being driven regularly, So they want $2,700 to replace 2 fuel injectors . New few things:
1.) Is this the going rate for this job ?
2.) cant those injectors be cleaned ? can using fuel injectors cleaner an option?
3.) I also read someplace that battery issues can cause misfire, as well as other options. any info on that?
4.) can it be that something done by the dealership while in their hands checking the battery caused this ?
5.) My car is subject to the pedal accelerator defect extended warranty. That issue involves the car having issues accelerating and going into limp mode. Similar issues the car is showing, can that be the issue? I asked them to make this warranty repair and they refused without the error code coming up. Should I push on getting that repair first to rule things out, and before spending stiff $2,700?

Any thoughts ?

As a result you need to fix what’s broken. Replace the injectors and battery and anything else. If they are plugged they can’t be reliably cleaned. If the dealer is too expensive try an Indy shop.
