Feels like they can clear the engine light remotely...
But after a few days, the light turned on again. This is so annoying... Mercedes made an appointment for me in a about a month and they said it's safe to drive with the check engine light on... Disappointed.
Is it common to have check engine light on on a Mercedes? I haven't seen this light for almost 10 years when I drove a Honda.
Mine is GLC300 2024, I had same issue when the outside temperature was 20℉ or below. Connect to scanner, no code found. When the temp raise up to 26~27, the CEL gone.

She responded, "Thanks Allen. We'll run some tests/diagnosis and get back to you." About 3 hours later, Janet responded, "Mercedes tech department says you have a frozen engine exhaust flap. When it thaws, your engine light will go out". It's been on at least 3 more times since that exchange in December, but never accompanied by any engine operation strangeness.

Considering some of the problems I read about in this forum, my "problem" is very minor. Hopefully nothing big will occur. I've learned to do 3 year leases @ 15,000 miles per year. Always under warranty...and very few problems before reaching the 45,000 miles with each car.
No more problems with the Check Engine Light (CEL) since getting "Service A" (9,500 miles) performed in mid February 2025. Maybe a software update was pushed out to the car. My Mercedes tech said a software solution was being worked on, due to so many complaints about the CEL.

Next, I need to find out how to keep the parking brake from engaging every time we put the car in park. That loud "BANG!" noise when putting the GLC300 in gear and pressing the accelerator (Drive or Reverse) after a rain or carwash the prior day/night is annoying and worrisome. No car (let alone a Mercedes!) should go BANG! when attempting to move it forward or reverse. Mercedes says some cars parking brakes stick to the rotors when drying out. No fix planned. I'm going to keep talking about it across social media until Mercedes feels a little heat about this. (I'm retired now, so I can be a full time consumer advocate, or Azzhole, depending on what's needed, LOL.)

Good to hear the CEL is finally resolved.

To stop the sticking pads and parking brake, pull and keep pulling the parking brake switch then turn off the engine and ignition simultaneously, that will prevent the parking brake from engaging.

GLC’22 check engine light

Sitting at MB now for 5th time bc check engine light on again. Still under CPO warranty but at 45k so only 5k left on warranty. And feel under the gun that mechanics figure out what the cause is before warranty expires. Perhaps I need to find fine print on a problem that MB is not able to solve while under warranty and what happens when warranty expires ie are they still obligated to fix once a fix is determined. Sigh. Thoughts from MB mind hive??

Check with service advisor. If you have documentation that THEY tried but failed and a fix comes about it probably gets fixed for free. If advisor says yes, I would ask for something in writing from dealer.

Yes they should also tell you what is the code recorded. If you want to find out yourself OP, you need to plug a scanner in that is capable in reading MB codes.

thx I'll f/u with them for the codes. and why is it important for me to know the codes beyond being an informed owner? that is, won't this information be in my maintenance records at MB?

Thanks for following up for us, it is not important for you to know what codes it is but was hoping if you post it, maybe forum members can start helping with the diagnostics and hopefully find the issue. The thing about MB dealerships is that they aren't created equal so I guess if one isn't as helpful, another one might be.

Other forum members that have access to TSBs can then look up the database and see if the reported codes in your vehicle was explained in one of those TSBs (XENTRY TIPS) along with a step by step remedy of the issue, hopefully.

Ah of course. Funny thing as to the other comment by DESAL, I only rcvd paperwork once out of the 5x I went in for CEL. On that service document it states the code as P04567A. Tech noted: followed guided test, checked gas cap and gas cap was put on correctly/tight. Followed guided test further, leak checked fuel tank and ok at this time. Coded ME and cleared all fault codes as per guided test. Disconnected SDS and battery maintainer, test drove 5 miles and no MIL (their acronym for check engine light) back at this time.

Shoot, my bad that I missed that part, guess the fault is not well documented or I am bad at searching for it.
