New Owners, questions, round 2

Thanks to everyone for helping me get used to the new 2025 GLC! I have a few more questions if you don't mind. I can ask in the W206 forum if they get more action over there (aren't our cars just W206 on stilts?), but figured starting here is best.
  1. Is there an audio "Source" cycle button/feature anywhere? I am soooo used to having a Source button or feature on the steering wheel (including older MBs). In this car, the only way I can change audio sources is via the center screen. Is that right, or is there some steering wheel Source function I am missing?
  2. Regarding Center Screen, my car glitched the other day about 2 minutes after start up. Screen went black-ish, with faint MB star symbols (I think), and it just came back on it's own in about 30 seconds. But CarPlay was gone. I had to stop, unpair my phone completely, re-pair it, then turn off car again, and it worked. Is there a way to Restart the center screen, not "Reset" it? I see how to "Reset", per Center Screen options and Owners Manual, but that is resetting the data, not the screen. Anyway, if the screen isn't working, you can't very well get to the Settings menu. Is there a Restart screen shortcut? I've tried holding what looks like the power button and that does nothing. If I just press it quickly I get options to turn off screen or turn off system. Is there a hard reboot or restart process? When I look online, I only see that option (Star button and Telephone button pressed at same time) on what looks like old Comand center mouse/dials.
  3. When I am done with a drive, and turn engine off, and lock the car, it makes noises. I am used to that. Engine bay whirring, heat shields popping, etc. But on my car, the rear of the car has what sounds like a pump whirring for a solid 3:30-5 minutes. I've timed it. It ends with a louder 1 second PHEW sound. Not causing any issues that I know of, just curious what is running back there. Near gas tank opening I can really hear it. Only thing back there might be a fuel pump? I know the battery is on that side back there near spare tire, but that shouldn't be needing any pumps of any kind since it's the 12v. Anyone know what service is running? I do not have an air suspension, base U.S. spec here.
Thanks!!

1. You could try saying hey Mercedes and change the source that way
2. You could hold the power button or was it the star button for a few seconds to reboot the screen
3. noises as in these ones? https://mbworld.org/forums/glc-class...en-parked.html

Hey Mercedes doesn't do what I want. I notice it will ask me to repeat my question, then just turn off. Not even a "sorry, can't help" notice. Nothing reboots the screen as far as I can see, so far. Not power button nor star button. And the noises you referenced my car makes too, but my noise is from the back of the car (I am almost positive) and it's constant, not here and there. I wish MB dealers had BMW genius types.

Strange the reset doesn't work, how long did you hold it for?

I wonder if you can create a shortcut that you can simply tap quickly to switch sources if Mercedes commands doesn't work?

They removed quite a number of buttons since the MY23 redesign. Wouldn't shortcut creation be exclusively in the MBUX touchscreen now?

Oh, for at least 45 seconds. Possibly more. That is just holding the button down without releasing. Simply pressing the button just gives me power off options. But again, if the screen is black, that doesn't work.

I think what bothers me (not hugely but it's just a step backwards) is that if I'm using a Map, if I want to change audio sources, I have to leave the Map, change the source, then go back to Map. MBUX doesn't support split screens like BMW does, which I guess I should have looked at more closely on test drive. The solution would have been a Source button on steering wheel like in previous years, but that is gone now too.

I see, sorry I couldn't help.

That said, did you enable zero layer, maybe that might help make it easier to use? Basically you hold the home icon and select the style/layer you want.

For 3., you might be hearing the parking brake engage. Happens automatically when you switch off the motor.

Thanks, I hear that noise when I'm still in the car. I'm familiar with that. This is like a pump of some sort running for 3-5 minutes after shut down. Must be some cooling function I guess. Doesn't seem to hurt anything so far.
