2018 GLC43 Panamerica Grill

Thought I’d post a pic of my post grill swap. Bought via Amazon and used a you tube video as a general guide. Took a little over an hour and the only two things not called out in the video were the sensor wiring needs to be cared for no big deal and the top two braces on the new grill needed to be shaved a mm to achieve a perfect fit.

Grill out of the box. Reuse existing Star which was hilarious to reattach.

Sensor wiring to reroute at bottom

She has no teeth!

Getting closer

Done

Love the grill and for less than a couple hundred bucks... I’ve seen places offering this for 3x the price.

The grill looks Great! I have been thinking about buying the same grill on amazon.

What did you use the shave the two top braces?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the post and discussion. As far as I can see there is no AMG insert on this grille, right?

I did the conversion on my 18 but my biggest regret is not getting the fully blacked out version. Don't get me wrong I love the Pan-Am look so much better than the softer diamond , but I think on a blk car the blk grill would look even better. Either way good on you. Looks good man. Now lower it (lol)

I've been thinking about doing this...but every picture I look at of OEM Panamericana grills, the chrome looks darker than the aftermarket look-a-likes. The OEM seems darker than the star where as the aftermarket's look the same as the the star.

Curious so anyone's thoughts or confirmation on this?

I ended up ordering a gloss black version since I don't think the chrome is an OEM finish.

@P-DAWG- did you wrap the grill yourself or have shop do it ?. Every shop I call runs for the hills as it must apparently be a lot of work.

Will do. Have about $8,000 worth of cosmetic mods coming...so will make a thread about them lol. Car should be delivered this weekend, but parts are another story. I'm hoping my vision comes to fruition in reality.

So you got rid of the CLA45 ? Nice. I almost bought one but just couldn't do it. $8k on Cosmetic mods...sheesh. Hey I have been looking for a front lower lip spoiler/splitter and other than those
flexible universal 3M tape jammies I have seen nothing. If you happen to see anything in your travels hook me up. Look forward to your build.

Yeah...sold the CLA for the GTR and have been saving for 43 ever since...just needed the prices to come down. After 3 months of negotiation, I finally found one for the price and options I wanted. $8K sounds like a lot but honestly, wheels/tires are $3500 of it...and the rear diffuser is $1500...(yikes)..I've also estimated labor into the $8K. Luckily I did the research on all the parts month ago, so I was set on getting the price i needed on the vehicle to make it all work. This will hopefully be the baby hauler for the next ten 10 years...before they can ride in the GTR 😀

HERE is a splitter I considered, but thought it was a little too ricey for my taste.

Thanks for the link. You know I saw that Lip and was not sure whether I liked it or not. I like understated and keep thinking it looks gaudy(could be because it is on a white car-mine is black). I just wish there were better pictures/angles. Either way cheers Man

I think your hunch on gaudy is right. I agree with you and prefer the understated look

I had a shop wrap everything that wasn't black. They said the grill may not hold but it has been through 1,000 auto car washes and no issues at all. I paid like $500 for all of it.

My door handles start peeling every once in a while but I hit them with a blowdryer and they wrap right back up.

The back "eyebrow" is the best part. I also changed all my badges to black ones from Ebay.

What kind of wheels are those? They look nice from the side. Will you post a straight on pic of them?
