I am about to order a GLC43 and would like to know if anyone has ordered the car with the rear airbag option that adds two lower airbags to the standard two curtain airbags. The option is $450 +$250 for installation at the US distribution location. Why are these not installed at the factory?

 

Interesting. I didn't see this on ordering guide but I might add to my build. Do you think it's a good idea with baby seat or not?

 

I just ordered a 2018 GLC43 and there was no option to select rear air bags and I cannot tell if they come as standard.

 

Airbags are NOT designed to work with child seats, so no.

They are designed to prevent a persons body from contacting hard parts of the car. A car seat surrounds a baby and should be secured very solidly to the car's attachment points so it can't move around during a crash. You don't want an airbag hitting it.
