Question Xpel stealth wrap

Anyone use this wrap before, how good are they? and how costly for the full wrap GLC 63S coupe?

i have not used it because of the significant cost. I hear it is good. I was quoted over $700 just for the front bumper on my charger. I went with another brand that cost less for bumper hood and mirrors and had no complaint over 40k miles.

it is worth the protection if you are at highway speeds regularly.

I browse thought the xpel website, the cost of the full 63s coupe wrapping film cost only is already close to $5k. I will check them out once I have the car

I have it on my 43...front bumper, full hood, and mirror caps. I personally think it's a must if doing any type of highway driving or live in an area that gets snow...salt/sand on the roads. It's not cheap, especially if you go with a reputable installer because it's pretty labor intensive. I think mine ran roughly $1400 and I probably should have done the rocker panels and maybe front fenders, as well, but went ceramic for that and the whole rest of the 43 (ceramic on top of Xpel, too). I purchased the 43 and it's black, so went a little crazy, but kind of OCD. I probably wouldn't do ceramic again, but this is the second time using Xpel and would recommend. Good luck!

I may do the full wrap with what they call stealth wrap, which will make it between satin and matte finish, and I will skip the ceramic coating. I keeping the car as well. If i do lease, no way I will spend that money :-P

I wanted to do that as it looks really good...but didn't want to get kicked to the couch. My installer was doing the stealth wrap to a Cayenne when I picked my 43 up and it looks amazing. Good luck and post pics when done.

I did Xpel full front clip and full Cquartz Pro ceramic coating. All in between the two with paint correction was about $4k. Xpel is the way to go if you are worried about paint chips on your hood, front end. Also had a strip of Xpel put on my liftgate area. Make sure you find the right installer. Both of these products are all about the application. I personally don’t think a full wrap is necessary.

Great Stuff!

I previously had it on the front of my SLK AMG and Acura MDX. I picked up my GLC 63 3 weeks ago and the 1st thing that I did to prevent any paint chips was take it to Parabolical Auto Sports in Columbia, MD to prevent any paint chips. Cliff does all of the high end exotics for dealers in the Baltimore and Washington, DC area. He offers all of the different films and will walk you through which is best for you. He even has one for matte finishes. I did the entire front end, hood, door sills, and rear bumper plate. On the rest of the car, I used ceramic coating. The wrap looks great - perfectly contours to every curve and wraps around all edges. The skill and experience of the applicator is key for a successful job. He has been doing this for a decade. I believe that the front and complete hood is a good bit under $1,000.

If you don't mind me asking, how much was the Ceramic coating? I live in DC and looking for a good place to get it done before the Summer hits.

It was done free of charge by Parabolical Autosports who did my film. They don't usually do ceramic coatings, but I have become friends with the owner. I found that the going price in the suburbs of Baltimore and Washington ranged from $250 to $900 (no paint correction included/required) for the same service. It's not like the wrap, it's so easy to put on, go for the lowest price with the material that you want.

Just my two cents, ceramic coatings have a wide range of applications and pricing, so you need to make sure you are comparing pricing appropriately. There are a lot of entry level coatings, which might meet your objectives, so you can reduce your upfront cost. My detailer was very transparent about the range of ceramic coatings and the pros/cons. So when you are talking with your detailer, I would ask them about their experience with the various applications. For example, there are coatings that can be applied quickly, requiring much less effort. For higher end Modesta and CQuartz applications, those are multi-day applications that require curing / baking. They last longer and provide higher water resistance and gloss. So its really about your goals.

I got the Suntek wrap on my front bumper, full hood (not 1/3), and side mirrors. So far so good. It advertises as self-healing of minor scratches when it's baked in the sun, similar to Xpel. For those who've done ceramic coating, did you go w/ the Ceramic Pro 9H? are there any DIY ceramic coatings out there that may be 75% as good as the Ceramic Pro 9H? I'm having a hard time shelling out $1800 (2 layers) - $2500 (4 layers) for the coating. I'm not totally new to detailing but not an expert either. Seeing if there's any ceramic system out there that people have applied themselves.

prices vary widely for the same job I think that Xpel is the best wrap on the market right now. I just put it on my GLC 63 I've had it on 3 cars before If you are in the Baltimore, Washington, DC area, call Cliff at Parabolica Autosports in Columbia, MD He does mostly high end cars Right now he has 3 Porsches and a McClaren in his shop for next week's application. I'd expect about $3,500 for the complete wrap

Ppodell, you seem to get the best deals on everything on the forums. Kudos. Not sure how you do it, the discounts you indicate leave little profit. A full Xpel wrap in Chicago is more like $6k. As for ceramic coatings, I’ve said this before, there is such a wide range on coatings and pricing. You can buy non professional versions of ceramic coatings and DIY. I’d recommend against that as paint correction is critical before you apply a coating. But everyone has different goals. Good luck.

how did you get this number? the pre-cut kits cost about $6400 for the full body using normal Xpel Ultimate. the stealth is about 10% more expensive

Cliff at Parabolica Autosport is well know in the Baltimore, Washington, Northern VA area. I know that he cuts his own pieces using a software that he subscribes to. I went to his shop when I picked up my GLC63. He purchases all of his film in very big rolls. I used SunTek because he thinks it is a better film but Expel is the same price. Matte finish was slightly more. He is located in Columbia, MD. His number is 443-226-4302, 800 966 4303

I recently had my GLC completely clear bra'd. Prior to this I had my C63s wrapped in satin clear bra. Honestly Suntek is a better company. I find it coming out with a consistent product where Xpel has defects. If anyone is in Southern California I have a great guy for it. Also his pricing is about 20% less.

Xpel is known for having blemishes in small areas of their big rolls. Suntek might have better quality control and in manufacturing. I know that my Suntek is flawless - you don't even know that it's on until you see the seams where it is wrapped under the hood and inside the panels.

As ppodell said above. It is just a preference on the company. My guy is all certified by Xpel and teaches their classes. He just doesnt support the product lol. He charges around $3500-4000 for a entire car clear bra. Disassembly included. He does a very good job. Nobody but him touches my cars.
