Changing the wood trim?

Hello all!

I recently took delivery of a 2018 GLC 43. The car on the lot had nearly every option I wanted, including the exterior/interior color combination.

Only one flaw... that WOOD! The wood trim is nice, but IMHO clashes with the black interior. Any ideas on how to darken the wood trim?

I was thinking people "smoke" their taillights, so there must be a product & shop that can apply a removable coating/vinyl to darken it, like opaque film?
Any ideas are appreciated. I'm in central NJ in case folks have suggestions on shops to contact.

You might be able to have it vinyl wrapped. Call a few places and ask. It shouldn't be that expensive and there are a ton of wrap options, even carbon fiber or satin aluminum.

you just need to make sure the shop knows what they are doing

You could have it wrapped in a vinyl of your choosing. The least invasive and cost effective way to go about it.

Like others have suggested. Wrapping it is a very simple solution to get rid of the wood. This isn't a Mercedes, but here are some pictures I posted on my site recently of an A7 that I wrapped the wood interior trim in a 3M carbon fiber finish.

Agreed. The car was there, and I am not patient. That said, I do regret that the car doesn’t have ambient interior lighting and has the wood trim.

The aluminum with the dark wood console is a much better match.

Looks great. Quality of workmanship varies greatly with vinyl.

Poor quality vinyl wrap on the wood trim of my car would cheapen the interior feel by an order of magnitude.

Don, would you mind sharing the approx cost I should expect and any leads to NJ based shops? I also noticed you’ve done some wrap tours that included a stint in Sayerville. Please DM if more appropriate, with the next tour date and/or a lead on shops you would recommend in this area.

Thanks!
