Pre-Paid Maintenance for GLC63

Just went to the service center to get the rear axle differential oil changed for my GLC63 (required at 1850 miles) and was surprised when I was told it wasn't covered under the pre-paid maintenance (I paid $2490 for 4 years). The service adviser pretty much told me the PPM only covers for Service A&B. I asked what is the benefit of buying it since it costs considerably more than if I had elected to pay for the yearly maintenance out of pocket? He pretty much just shrugged it off and gave me the impression that "they got me." Did anyone's rear differential oil change get covered? ...I guess I'm just venting since I feel duped.

I did not opt for the prepaid maintenance. I was told it amounts to a 15% discount compared to when you pay at the time of service. I knew the rear diff service wasn't included. Seems a bit petty to require a special AMG oil service but not include that.

It really is extra petty.

I wonder if the higher value AMGs have the same requirement and accompanying cost.

I have not taken delivery yet but I will be unhappy the day I get mine done despite knowing about the cost.

I am leaning more and more towards leasing as I think about these little things.

I'm having buyer's remorse with the PPM. Dealer here in NYC charges $310 for A-Service, $590 for B-Service. Basically, $1800 out of pocket for 4 years vs $2490 pre-paid. Not a discount. More like a 40% premium. So hopefully, a future GLC63 buyer will see how a PPM is rip-off.

‘Do you have a model S that needs this fluid change? Just looked at my wife’s car with is a 63 non-S and she has 3000 miles, and no service indicators.

I have the GLC63 4MATIC+ (X253). There is no service light indicator that comes up at 1850 miles. The service advisor said that this is an "optional" maintenance, that's why it's not covered. But if you remember the sticker on the windshield and if you actually take a quick glance of the owner's manual, you will see that it is required.

...I do find it odd a service light is not triggered. All my BMW M cars would register a service light at 12 hundred miles for similar requirement.

They don't add anything to the Assyst system for the diff service, but they put the sticker on the windshield so you know about it.

I just had this done... there is no service indicator triggered (I had 2050 miles at the time). I would highly recommend getting this done, the fluid that drains out looks like metallic paint. The replace fluid cost approximately $25 for a 1-liter bottle (and it takes 3-liters):

It looks to me like the rear diff maint should be covered:

It looks old, but this is from the current MBUSA GLC 63 page: https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/vehic.../model-GLC63W4

I agree. There's a newer PPM chart from MBUSA that I referred to. But on the bottom there's a disclaimer that says G-Class is not covered. And MBUSA said it's not just the G63 or G550, basically all cars that start with the letter "G" is not covered. LMAO. I just shook my head and called it a scam.

‘I will find out tomorrow I booked an appointment for next Saturday. My guess it’s close to 300.00 hourly rate if like Porsche is 175.00 to 225.00 per hour and supplies marked up. Should be less work than an and filter change.

The dealer charged $175 for labor + $100 for parts + tax.

I wish I could do it myself, but I'm not mechanically inclined. I nearly screwed up my bike's crankcase trying to do the oil change myself....SMH.

Here is approximately what the parts should look like:

(They list it as transmission oil, but 001-989-52-03-10 shows up as that limited slip 75W-140 that I posted above).

I wish I would have taken a video... vehicle on lift, move the portable fluid drain under the valve, drain fluid, close valve, refill with new fluid, done. $175, man, I have to just shake my head over that.

one hour of service cheaper than my old divorce lawyer 400.00 per hour(: sounds about right remember we have to pay for the shinny building insurance, and good tech salary.

It wasn't even a question when I had mine done. They said you have prepaid maintenance so no charge. Would you like me to PM you my receipt? Maybe that will help you.
