I have been wanting to do this to my 2020 GLC63. It's textured, so how did they address that? Also, that area receives a lot of road splash. How has the vinyl been holding up?

The texture shows up after the wrap, but it is only noticeable close up. It looks just the same after 2 plus years and 10000 plus miles. Brake dust shows up more with the aluminum color, so it requires more frequent cleaning.

You can reuse the existing fastening hardware from your current skirts (Per side: 2 push-in fasteners, 2 screws and 6 nuts).

Good luck!

Do the 63's side skirts need any alteration to replace the 43's side skirts (Any TABS that don't align) all bolt holes and tabs fit exactly?
My MB dealer giving me a song and dance and says they don't fit....but I see pics that say they do !
Ordered but not coming till July !

@Jay Langlois If your car does not have factory running boards, the GLC63 skirts fit right on the car, they snap into the existing strips that hold the 43 style skirts in place and all the bolt holes line up perfectly. No modifications required. If the car has factory running boards, then additional parts would be required for the skirts to snap in place.

So I tried vinyl and it only lasted 4 days. Now I daily drive my GLC63 and it sees rain, snow, slush, etc in Colorado.

So at another attempt before I buy the OEM pieces, I decided to use Rust-Oleum Peel Coat in Matte SIlver. I must say, it looks better than the vinyl and it only cost $10 a can (only used about half the can) + painter's masking tape. We'll see how long it lasts but it looks really good and matches the other silver trim pieces very well. It also seems to really like the texture of the side skirt and seems quite durable.

Looks great! My vinyl is still holding up, but I did noticed 2 small sections starting to curl up, so probably won't last much longer. I am going to go your route as soon as this fails! How many coats would you say you did?

I did 4 coats, as per the instructions. First coat covered about 50%. I went a little heavier on the 2-4th coat. Then make sure to remove the tape as soon as your done with your last coat.

Wondering how well the paint has held up? I still have the vinyl wrap on mine, never peeled off like I was expecting, curious if yours lasted?

The Rustoleum Peel Coat has been holding up great! Here's a pic. The vinyl only lasted a few days for me. Both pics below taken within the last couple weeks.

Mercedes Benz AMG GLC 63s
TBHonest, I prefer these to the side steps that came on my GLC 63s, those bl00dy things catch rocks and all sorts of gunk. In saying that, they are handy for washing the roof, easy to stand on them.

In Japan I’m not even sure yet if they are an option on newer models at this point in time. I’d like to get them yet not sure if they are either worth the hassle or money currently. Still saving up for Fr/Rr Dash Cams, Catback+midpipe, new set of winter rims, Summer tires for end of next year, new leather steering wheel (retrimmed at my discretion) etc etc. My wallet already hurts lol, so do my ears from the missus screaming in them not to spend any more money on “superfluous car sh-t”, her words not mine lol.

Hello,

I am very interested in converting the side skirt from standard GLC300 to GLC63. Can you provide the cost of the parts? Did you DIY or have dealership install it? If you DIY, was it easy? Was there any instruction manual that came with the new skirt? Did you reuse every nut and bolt from the old skirt?

I think the 63 style skirts, plus the silver trim inserts set me back about $2k. Crazy expensive, but it was worth it to me to get the finished look to the side skirts. I did it all DIY, fairly easy and straight-forward, but no manuals provided. You reuse the hardware from your existing skirts. I can probably dig up the part numbers for the right and left skirts as well as the 4 trim pieces, if you want to have a dealer price it out. I order mine as a complete kit from a reseller.

Actually found my prior post, with the part numbers. See below:

Side skirts right and left: A-253-698-51-00 and A-253-698-28-00
Silver trim inserts (4 pcs): A-253-698-59-00, A-253-698-60-00, A-253-698-52-00, and A-253-698-53-00

Thanks for the info. Does the silver trim looks like chrome from a distance? It doesn't like like chrome in the picture. Does your rear bottom chrome exhaust match the silver trim?

The trim is painted plastic, it’s more of a matte silver finish, definitely not shiny chrome like the exhaust tips.

It’s closer in color to the silver spoiler lip on front bumper and the trim just above exhaust tips on rear bumper, that have the matte look finish.

Do you think i can spary paint the silver trim insert to chrome? Is such paint exist? I want it to match the chrome trim above the exhaust on the GLC300? I have asked about wrapping it chrome but was quoted to be very expensive.

I suppose the plastic trim pieces could be painted. Also there are places that chrome plate items, but not sure of the cost for that.

I think the idea with the silver finish color is that it matches the satin finish aluminum trim on the front and rear bumpers of the GLC43/63. I guess the trim is shiny chrome, like the window trim on the 300?

It is shiny chrome on the rear trim above the exhaust so I want the side skirt trim to match. Too bad it doesn't.
