Is anyone running the staggered tire setup on 19 inch wheels? That is: 255/285 or 265/295. If so, what wheels do you have? As I look for options on the TireRack, the only wheels that seem to come up are rather expensive, though nice looking, BBS CI-R at $650/ea. Almost no other recommended 19" wheels have the requisite 10" width for the rear tires.
Before you jump up and down about why I'm interested in 19s, know that I also have 21s that I think ride like a skateboard on Boston's bombed-out byways. After a winter spent on 19 RFT, I like the settled down, plush feeling. But I'm vain, so I want the staggered look.
I also would be interested in going with 19 tires with toller sidewall than stock 21-inch tires.
I have put on 19-inch winter tires and the ride is now much smoother on Montreals bombed-out byways. LOL
I went to my friendly local dealer and asked whether they had 19" wheels for the staggered setup. The gentleman who answered me at the parts counter was properly flummoxed by my query. After great effort, he pulled what is supposed to be the set of optional wheels for the 2017 GLC43. Sadly, it's not quite as definitive as you might wish. Based on that list, there are no wheels 9.0 inch or wider, which is obviously wrong for my default wheels are 21x9.5 out back. You may find the pricing interesting. Sure makes BBS wheels look affordable by comparison.
If one of you happen to stop by your dealership, would you try to find out what MB has in the OEM catalog? I don't think my guy knew how to pull this up.
My summer/stock are the 21" but I also have a winter setup that is 19" that I had powder coated black. They look great, but the rears are obviously inset a little. I want to keep them on in summer for all the reasons already listed. Just talked to the dealer and ordering spacers to rear to correct offset and I will run a higher sidewall summer tire. Dealer has done this before and thinks it looks fine and will improve quarter mile time as well. Side note - I ran the bfg advantage this winter and they were awesome. I am in CO mountains and have done a ton of snow driving this year.
