Spacers + Wheel Locks????

Having a bit of trouble that I thought maybe the forum could help me out with. Below are the facts and then my questions...

Facts (Updated):
  • My vehicle didn't come with wheels locks so I'm looking at purchasing a set.
  • I only want to run spacers on the rear wheels (10mm)
  • The standard Mercedes bolt shank length is 45mm. I thus have ordered 55mm shank length bolts to use with the rear spacers.
  • It is standard to have 17mm of thread in the hub to secure the wheel.
  • The front and rear wheels have a 25mm gap..leaving 20 mm of thread to secure the front wheels with 45mm bolts and 20mm of thread to secure the rear wheels with 55mm bolts because of the spacers
Questions:
  • Does anyone know how much thread sticks out in the standard wheel from the 45mm bolt?
  • If I were to get 55mm wheel locks will they be too long in the front (30mm of thread to the hub)?
  • If I were to get 45mm wheel locks, will it be too short for the rear (10mm of thread to the hub)?

Wheel experts, please help!

  • If I were to get 45mm wheel locks, will it be too short for the rear (15mm of thread to the hub)? Yes it will be at least 5mm as minimum 15mm thread engagement is required.

Ideally, you need 45mm shank locks upfront and 55mm shank locks out back.

If 15mm of thread length minium is required then the 45 mm wheels locks will work in the rear, right?

45mm shank - 20mm wheel gap - 10mm spacer = 15mm thread engagement.

Trying out some GLC63 replicas and front offset is already a few mm wider than I would prefer due to the less aggressive fender flares on the 43.

45mm shank - 20mm wheel gap - 10mm spacer = 15mm thread engagement.
I do not follow above.

I know that all MB OEM bolts (45mm shank with 20mm thread) for GLC/ML/GLE/GL/GLS protrudes through the OEM wheel by 20mm (so what you call a "gap" can not be 20mm, but is in fact 25mm - 45mm bolt minus 20mm protrusion thought the wheel).

By installing 10mm spacers and still using 45mm bolts, the engagement thread is reduced from 20mm to only 10mm. The minimum required engagement thread length is 15mm (I would still go with stock's 20mm). (FYI: a typical late model MB 4matic SUV can handle longer bolts than the stock - front protruding upto 23mm, rear protruding upto 25mm - without any interference.)

So with 10mm spacers with OEM wheels 55mm bolts should be used. 55mm is what I always use with 10mm spacers for ML/GLE or any other requiring stock 45mm bolt.

Edit: just in case this will be used as reference, I want to clarify further. MB's SUVs' hubs thread depth is 12mm - this is the minimum required thread engagement for any 14x1.5 bolts. The rotor's thickness is 5-7mm (I do not recall now which and do not want to retake measurement, sorry), so 12mm car hub's thread depth plus 5mm rotor thickness (or 7mm rotor thickness) means that minimum safe thread protrusion from the wheel is at least 17mm (or more likely 19mm, since I believe rotor thickness is 7mm and not 5mm), not 15mm I posted earlier.
So basically any extended bolt must protrude through the wheel at least 17mm (19mm if rotor is 7mm thick) plus spacer's width.

Gotcha my measurement is probably off and it is 25mm and not 20mm. This is super helpful...so the only way to use wheel locks safely would be to 1) either use 2 different wheels locks or 2) cut down the 55mm lock bolts for the fronts?
