ASR Component exhaust valve module - installation & revs video

Hi all,

I just finished filming a video showing how to install the ASR Component RX2 ML2 exhaust valve module into my 2020 GLC 43 with AMG performance exhaust.

I could not find any other videos online so hope this is of interest. It is not particularly hard to install but a few people have been asking me to film a video.

At the end of the video I have included rev shots comparing driving modes and valve positions.

thanks for this video Sifor. I received my module yesterday and look forward to installing it tonight. Just a quick question, how did you pull the felt cover off to expose the rubber grommet? were there any bolts or clips? I had a quick look today and removing the felt looks like the hardest part..

Thanks
Matt

The felt cover isn't held down by any bolts or clips, it is just tucked under the plastic boot trim and the side felt trim. Easiest way to remove it is to just push the felt trim down and out under the plastic boot trim first (where the boot lid lock thing is) and slowly work your way around to the right. You don't need to completely remove it, just enough on the right side (fuse box side) to expose the chassis and rubber grommet.

thanks for that- I completed the install in about 30 mins thanks to this video and your tip. The mod is pretty good for subtle increase in volume at low to mid revs. High revs it is obviously the same. 👍

Does anyone know if Renntech EVM follows the exact same installation? I read on another forum that the ASR module needed to be connected directly to exhaust valves underneath the vehicle while Renntech one just connected to some plugs inside the trunk. Not sure about accuracy of that comment because my understanding is that both ASR and Renntech modules are identical. But for C43/63 it seems like you only need to connect cables inside the trunk. Probably it's not the case with GLC based on the video.

For a '20 GLC63, the install is the exact same as the ASR.

I’ve had the ASR module for a couple years and love it.

Hi there, I just got my asr unit installed for my glc63. A few questions I wanted to ask:

1.) with the car ignition off, I went to try out opening the valves and when I press button 1 on the asr remote, and the valves open but they have a bit of stuttering sound for a second or so before opening. Is that normal?

2.) following on from question 1, with the car off I press button 1 to open the valve, I can hear them open but when I press button 2 to go back to stock, I can’t hear anything?

I only can hear a change in the valve with button 2 if I cycle through from button 1 (open) to button 3 (closed) and then to button 2 (stock). Once again is this normal functionality? I would have thought when I open the valves and then go back to stock, I should hear a change in the valves?

3.) another observation with the car stationary and engine on, I put on the stock mode (button 2) and I’ve turned the factory exhaust button from the centre console and I’ve compared the idle sound back to back with to the asr open mode (button 1), and they sound exactly the same. Should that be the case?

I was expecting the idle sound on stock mode (button 2) with the centre console factory exhaust button on to not be as loud as open valves with the asr (button 1)

the clarification and help on this would be appreciated! TIA.
