Weight reduction thread
First off I do apologize for starting a juicy thread title with out any the raw data yet. Reason I wanted to start this thread was for others to post real world weight savings. Coming from the RS3 community its amazing how much extra performance in 60-130 and 1/4 mile times you can get by removing back seats, lighter battery, lower weight exhuast (no cats) and light wheels etc.. Now I know these are not race cars some may look at this thread as silly which it is but removing weight with out effecting looks and feel if you can is always a good for enthusiasts. Though we only have single scroll turbos I do believe we should be in the 10's with fbo, weight reduction and ethanol. Seems there are a few guys running low 11's on these forums but I think they are full weight. Highly doubt we will see 130+ mph in a 1/4 with out different turbos but who knows we may if really stripped down. Once I can start doing launch control [yeah low miles on here (full disclosers my 3rd 4.0, 2nd glc63 lol)] I plan on documenting dragy performance testing mod's including intake since its a hot subject. Will be interesting to see how much weight can be removed from the rear of these bad boys.
From what I can gather these are the weights of a GLC 63 4875-4511 lb Coupe (depends on options) but i'm not sure how much heavier the SUV is, I though it was heavier though this is showing similar weight https://media.mbusa.com/releases/201...shedAscending?

I have dropoed a phenomenal 😔 30lbs of "unsprung weight" by going to lighter wheels and tires. my Vertini wheels weigh about 26lbs in 9" and 10.5" sizes. Tge Michelins weigh 33lbs in 315/35R20 for the rear and 29kbs in 275/40r20 up front versus 37lb rear 32lb front stock Continental tires. Note that these sizes are 0.6" shorter than stock, so i may be losing some performance numbers there.
The only other thing i can see doing is lightweight front seats and those mufflers in the rear, but i did gp out of my way to make sure i had ventilated seats. i don't see small weight loss yielding any significant numbers like the RS3. might as well add power.
