Rear camera noise on GLC 43 SUV

I recently noticed a sound coming from the back off the car when coming to a stop . (my wife doesn't ear it !)
I thought the noise was coming from stuff moving in the trunk cargo so I moved everything out .
Noise happen when the car comes under 10 mph .It's not a constant noise , it's 1 or 2 sec second not loud .
I think the rear camera located above the license plate open and close and the noise I ear is the motor moving the camera OPEN
I thought the camera was moving on position OPEN when car is put in reverse and not all the time or under 10mph .
Does anyone noticed that ?
Can someone confirm that the camera move to Open position when under 10mph ?
Thanks

If the rear camera opens, you'll see it on your center screen. Mine will open if it thinks I'm parking or coming close to hitting something. So yes, the rear camera can open when moving less than 10mph.

Thanks for confirming that ! Never payed attention to that noise before . My guess is the camera motor is getting more noisy with time .

I just bought a 2025 GLC 43 AMG... I only just worked out what this same noise was. It's crazy annoying now. It also makes no sense when the front camera is always there, why fold away the rear camera all the time??
On the plus side, when in sport mode, I can't hear it... LOL.

They fold away because the back of the car is prone to getting more road grime on it than the front. We live on a dirt road so if ours didn’t fold away they would be covered in dirt.

What he said.

On some, like the S Class, both the front and rear cameras are protected by a fold-away mechanism.

The fold away is such as nice feature, I also seen this on Volkswagen but that's it, other cars I have to keep wiping the lens so it is very nice the camera is clean when you need it. It was never an issue before some strange update (in 2024?) that led to the camera constantly popping out across MB models apparently to calibrate, more on that in the GLE thread. https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...very-stop.html
