GLC63 Coil issue
It seems the coils (each runs two cylinders) and the spark plug boots have been updated.
In case it happens to someone else..
I found out the hard way after a 50k A service and spark plug change. I’m still concerned about the timing as it happened right after I picked it up…
started cutting out power just cruising on the freeway. Once I got off the idle got rough intermittently. I’m thinking something didn’t get plugged in and seated.
it went away so I headed (back) towards the dealership…
Engine light comes on and now I’m definitely dragging cylinders.
The outcome I told that there’s an extended warranty on coils (150k/20 yr from build?) or something to that effect.
I was told they changed coil (one not all 4), affected plugs, checked oil, bore scoped, flow tested exhaust (cats don’t do well with raw fuel.)
I’ll need to wait for the others to fail or update myself out of pocket.
The coil happens to fail after service? I’m frustrated they didn’t check, test or catch this. Seems like it would be part of the service checks.
sorry in advance as I’m posting via txt
