Yup, same here. I prefer the smoothness of a V6 engine. From the reviews I had read and watched when shopping/researching for my current 2022 GLC43, pretty much every article and video indicated that the previous gen GLC43 engine was by far the best in the class. Also, I prefer the interior looks of the previous gen; it looks and feels more like a car. The new one just feels like you are in a spaceship. And the lack of physical buttons in the new one? Ouch!
Don't get me wrong, I am sure the new gen has a number of features that are better than the previous gen, but I just like the feel of the previous gen.
Honestly a twist of events as people really hated the V6 C 43 back then because of not hand-built etc. I guess if something worse doesn't come out, it is hard to realize how much of a "good thing" we currently have and start to miss it if it is gone.
I am glad to hear there are forum members that enjoy the M139L in the W206 C 43, that car too looks good like the X254 GLC 43, the power is there but if four cylinder isn't a deal breaker, that car could still be good. Especially with all the incentives that are going on.
Personally, I am shopping for a CLE 53 whenever that comes to North America.
I'm sure AMG did their best with their new marching orders, but ultimately the higher weight with the hybrid technology, the questionable reliability and longevity of this system as well as the high boost V4, make this a non-starter. I had a hybrid Accord 15 years ago and the battery went out under warranty. It would have been $8,000 to replace it, and that's nowhere near the battery size these vehicles will be packing. All well and good if you don't plan on owning it out of warranty, but I seriously doubt the driving dynamics and feel are anywhere close to what the 2018 - 2021 models offer. Time will tell, but I'd rather have a Model X than the new GLC 43/63.
Looks like they might have been ironing out the quirks somewhat of the new drivetrain and as RBR says it might be more fitting of an SUV. The added active roll bars definitely helps with the weight management and SUVs are heavy to begin with.
If I sell GLC63S, the replacement won't be this 63 E-performance. What should I consider instead? Urus, RSQ8, Cayenne Turbo GT, GLE63S, G63 come to mind.

Those seem like good choices, but even the lightest (Porsche) is over 5,000 lbs. The V8 GLC is 500+ less, and has essentially the same engine.
The AMG GLC 63 SE looks very good, and the perfomace from the online reviews seem pretty awesome. The sound may be tolerable to most, but the price might not be, as it is base listed for 120,000 Euros in Germany and 120,000 pounds in the UK.
I need to see it in person but I really do like the look, the pricing depending on how they list it as will certainly affect buyers' decisions. Will be interesting if they really improved the drivetrain on the SUV compared to the sedan as the reviewers had mentioned, if so, we might be on to something... even though it is just a four-cylinder, we will see, will reserve judgement until seeing one and test driving one.
