I sure hope he is. I don't think anyone here has waited longer, nor provided so much insight into the new GLE's. I hope he gets it and finds the wait was well worth it. I can't wait to see pics of his new ride.

What a saga! I started this thread 14 months ago tomorrow! In that time I've probably spent 1,200-1,500 hours on this thread and related GLE stuff. Being retired (I retired 2 years ago). I've got the time, but I am looking forward to having a little more time for other life stuff!
As an architect, it was all about teamwork, design, process, detail, technical specifications and communication. This process has utilized some of the skills I developed in those 44 years. It's been enjoyable with a BIG side of frustration. I will of course be posting photos and impressions next week and will continue to answer questions and be involved in the inevitable problems that pop up (hopefully, not too many!).
This is not goodbye, but thanks to all! I'm imagining myself gliding through the corners in CURVE mode. Until the real thing:

This thread would have never been as informative, educational, enjoyable or hopeful without you. You created a respite for those who needed a place to hang and learn while waiting for the GLE to become reality. You have patience I could never have come up with. I hope Monday afternoon is all you could hope for and then some. I personally think everyone here owes a huge thank you for everything you've done.
I've only been following this since I took delivery 11 days ago. I agree with everyone else that you have enlightened us on several aspects of the vehicle and I thank you. Your day is finally here! I already know you will enjoy this incredible ride as I am more amazed everyday as I find more and more features to customize.

Have you experience downshift kicks or shocks when braking on your GLE450? There is also a whining noise during downshifts (audio at very low volume or off).

I have noticed this. Seems to be downshifting quickly when stopping.
Kind of surreal. I can actually touch the image I've been looking at for over 7 months. I have only driven it 7 miles home from the dealer. My first impressions are it looks, seems and feels well built. The AMG packages and wheels give it a whole different presence from base models. Ride quality is great; I have not tried out Curve mode yet. When parked (with E-ABC) it lowers down instantly and looks almost racy. I installed the rear lip protector (easy-peasy) and did some initial setup and am working my way through the 629-page manual. Will do some driving and more photography tomorrow. I'm glad I stuck it out!

She's a beauty. White is killer for the GLE. I'm sooo envious and can't wait to hear your overall impressions. I so want to bail on my way-delayed build, but I so don't want to bail on it. Just beautiful, congrats and enjoy the car!! Makes me want to change back to the polar white; I cannot decide which looks best, white or the selenite grey.
