To my own surprise (a diehard lexus hater), recent Lexus have actually been very good from a drive standpoint. Problem is they've become so horrifically ugly. Not that they have ever been nice looking, but now its a mix of comical and gaudy. Because of one factor or another, Lexus simply doesnt appeal to the MB or BMW buyer who appreciates the mix of driving fun and attention to design detail

I've owned Lexus and they have some good points but the engine and driveability aren't there. The lockout of the electronics while driving are dumb. It looks to me that they are targeting a younger market with designs while still able to keep customers because of perceived reliability. I hated the ugly front end on the RX but after getting used to it it doesn't bother me as much.
