Cheap Hard Plastic Lower Door Panels?
Just watched a Canadian review of the 450 with amg line and the reviewer pointed out the lower door panels were cheap hard plastic, not even any soft touch paint. Hoping this is not the case for US version.

2024 GMC Canyon Denali..... 2018 Audi SQ5
Mine is a little over $80 and that’s without E-ABC another $6+
It may may be about practicality since it’s an SUV. I have soft touch on my Denali upper doors and there is an indentation from my elbow. Same with previous Lexus RX. Easy to scuff and will tear.

Yeah I have cheap hard plastic lower door panels on my ‘17 GLE63S which stickerred for $120k. A new $145k E63S has the same thing I believe but i’m yet to drive one so don’t quote me on that. Going for a test drive this weekend. I hate plastic but it seems German manufacturers other than Porsche reserve “full leather” interiors for their flagship cars. You can buy a $160k Audi RS7 with exclusive custom interior and plastic dashboard and door upper and lower panels.

I have to check them on our Q7 with lux pkg next time I use it.

Mercedes is a lot better in that regard.

Audi will let you fit a full/extended leather interior to the Q7 as a part of the Audi exclusive package. It’ll run you little north of $20K all said and done. I’m Europe and the UK (see what I did there :-P) a full leather interior can be added to the standard interiors as a €5,000 option on the list I believe. Not so in the US. Also, they’re very strict with their wheels where you get one or two wheel options per trim even if you go Audi exclusive vs you have wheels ala carte in Europe.
Mercedes is a lot better in that regard.

Actually on the Q7 if you order murilo brown interior you can get leather dash for about $1200, which is in addition to the upper and lower leather covered door panels that come included with the lux package...luv our Q7 but Audi's service since the $30 Billion settlement has suffered and they are now difficult to deal with.

Can confirm that 2019 E63S has plastic lower dash/glovebox, lower door panels and center console, the last one obvious when seated in the back.

There is the option of what they call designo manufaktur where you can customize the color of the leather, select stitching color and all that. $2.5k the price of admission in addition to about $12k the price of the leather. You can also custom paint the car any heritage paint, or any paint you want provided it passes through their approval process. $8k for the paint I think. You end up with unique cars but am not sure if they’ll cover the lower doors and other plastic bits in leather.

Of note, my GLE63 had leather covered and stitched glovebox and lower dash beneath the steering wheel column. Not the E63 however. Odd.
