Our dealer said if we custom order a GLE that it'll be MSRP; they don't do discounts since it's too new and high demand of a car. This is in the Seattle area.
Anyone know if there should be any difference between us custom ordering vs. picking a car off the lot when it comes to bargaining?

We got 5% off our special order AMG E53 Coupe before it even showed up on the MBUSA configurator with next to no kerfuffle. I'd look elsewhere.
I also forgot to mention that if anyone has MileagePlus w/ United Airlines, there's another discount there as well. You have to get a control number from United. It is model specific as to the amount of the discount and the # of UA miles you get for your MB purchase/lease.
Thanks, I used this yesterday when I picked up my 450 - rebate on 2020 GLE's is $500, which was added to the 4.5% discount I'd already negotiated back in March.
The deals are out there! Just need to find a dealer who is willing to work with you.
Longtime member here but probly first time poster... I've always been a BMW guy but just picked up a 2020 GLE 350 in Socal. I was able to get 8.5% off MSRP on a white/black AMG Line. Super stoked about it!!

I find it rather interesting that there are folks looking for discounts at the same time there is another thread on this forum of folks who can’t even get delivery dates on their 450 orders! Seems Mercedes did an awesome PR on the release of these vehicles but the ability to actually deliver them into the hands of customers has been a disaster not necessarily all their making but disappointing to many folks. Perhaps the bigger question currently is “can I even find or order” a GLE 450 rather than can I find a discount!

After working with 6 different dealers negotiating for a GLE 450, I have to admit I was a bit disappointed.
Some dealers were not discounting the vehicle at all. I only managed to get 5% off, plus a $1,000 Mercedes appreciation bonus for visiting a pop-up store in the Mall of America.
I've attached a build of the car I ordered and the Mall Of America visit bonus.
Bottom line dealer discount of $3,852 + $1,000 bonus = $4,852 off MSRP

Not sure why you’re disappointed. It’s supply & demand and at this point it’s not in the buyer’s favor. I just went with the sales guy for my last 2 cars, took 3.5% + $500 MBCA discount. Relationships are more important to me than saving a grand or two. That pays off later if you have out of warranty stuff or whatever.
I managed to get 8.5% off MSRP for the GLE 350 last night after speaking with maybe a dozen or more dealers. I was open to buying from out of state if they guaranteed free shipping which some dealerships did.
Ended up getting the 8.5% deal from a dealership just a few hours away from me.
Only thing I can say is to stay persistent until you get the deal you are comfortable with (while remaining realistic). It's out there.
I put in an order a few hours ago for a GLE450, with an expected delivery date of mid December. Got 7% of MSRP. My wife is a doctor and there's a $500 AMA discount, so that's included. I'm hoping that there will be some additional rebates/incentives in December since it is such an important month for the sales cycle. I didn't negotiate that hard. The SA's will try to tell you about all the customers paying MSRP or even over because there's "such a limited supply of 450's". Don't buy it. As others have stated above, it's their job to sell you. I probably could have gotten them down a bit more, but I like my SA and didn't really feel like doing the dance. What I like even more is the Section 179 write-off. $71k build fully deducted from my 2019 taxes, which effectively makes the cost of this luxury vehicle $45kish. Sweet deal.

That's the rub, my friend - GLE 350 is much easier to negotiate than 450. Also you were looking through an existing inventory and that makes negotiations even easier/ smoother (VS. custom build). Still you got a great deal, no questions - enjoy!

Not a tax attorney, but would still exercise caution: "Certain vehicles (with a gross vehicle weight rating above 6,000 lbs. but no more than 14,000 lbs.) qualify for deducting up to $25,000 if the vehicle is purchased and placed in service prior to December 31 and meets other conditions." --> this is re: section 179 this year. Speak with your tax attorney or CPA. Then you also have a burden of proving >50% business use, etc....

No I didn’t buy existing inventory, I had to custom build mine. I’m sending in my build and deposit tomorrow morning for it. Delivery is expected for late October/early November.
This was fairly recent, starting in 2018. Have already checked with 2 tax accountants.
My plan: get the GLE delivered in December, take it out to a few client meetings, and let it sit in my garage until 2020 = Technically 100% business use...Therefore full, 100% cost deduction for 2019 taxes. That said, I do need to maintain greater than 50% business use for the next 5 years beyond 2019, but I'll be holding onto my little VW GTI, so won't be a problem. This is a great little loophole for anyone with a small business!
94 Supra Turbo, 15 Jeep Wrangler Altitude, 2020 GLE 450
None of my dealers in the Tampa/Orlando area would move very much on MSRP especially on orders on a 350 & 450. I did get one dealer to give me a tad bit over 3% off. If you are also a USAA memeber you can get $500. off
With some negotiations and end of month sales trying to push. I got a decent deal on a 450 that just arrived on truck yesterday with my trade in. It worked out for me.

Alternatively, look way outside your area. This is once every three years lease - worth a trip. Dealers in NY/NJ area are far more willing to negotiate and the savings are significant.
We should close on the sale of our ranch next week and when we return to our new home in Tennessee from Texas, we will order a new GLE 450. This will be our fifth "ML" and eighth Merc, but the first here in TN.
Of the two dealers we've met with, one has started out with an "about 5%" discount, the other has not mentioned the subject. The first dealer had several 450s allocated with an October build. I'll let y'all know how it goes.
I contacted several different dealers and tried to negotiate online and got some quotes but the best deal I could get was somehting like $2000 off of msrp. However, I decided to visit one of the dealer to test drive last week who promised me that he can beat that $2000 off deal. Anyway, we sat down after the test drive and started talk about some numbers. Negotiating took about 30 minutes and we shook hands for 7.2% off msrp deal. Though, I never thought I’d buy the car from the first dealer I visited, I don’t regret it at all. After all, it’s a full change model and I don’t think other dealers around me would offer that kind of price. And yes, this is my first MB.
7.2% off MSRP is a remarkable discount off of any debut model luxury car. Please post your contract.
I got 7 or 8% off of my 2019 Audi Q8 in May 2019, and that's been considered an incredible feat by anyone I've communicated with. I haven't encountered anyone who has done or heard of better.
There are pretty slim pickings as far as 2020 GLE inventory around here.

can this pop.up store incentive be used anywhere? or did you have to apply it to a specific dealer per the pop up store you visited?

Mercedes Benz of Hanover (Mass.) is advertising 10 percent off all new vehicles in stock this weekend only. From the look of the website, they have at least one GLE 450 on the lot.
They are one of the dealers that offered me 10 percent off MSRP on my 450 order back in March, although I ultimately went with a different dealer (who also gave me 10 percent off).

There is a link in the email to download the coupon. You can use it at any dealer, I don't see anything on the coupon restricting it to a single dealership. The dealership listed only has your contact info, not the coupon.
