Production delays/ timeline

Can't read it!
Maybe some of the forum members waiting for news already have their GLE manufactured but are waiting for rework. See news article from Tuscaloosa nearby the MB plant.

Indeed, I can't read it! Access denied. Probably because of the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
Thanks!

Cars in Parking Lots
So, my question would be, and it might be a dumb one, is: How does one know that the car that goes into production in the following months f (say, in July or August) isn't actually one of those cars that are sitting in the parking lot being fixed/fitted with parts/ etc..... Is there a way to tell?

Hence why I am not going to accept our delayed GLE450. Mercedes has been making cars for a long time at this plant and its unnacceptable for them to mess this launch up that badly. Its so unfathomable and unexcusable for this in the year of 2019 not being able to properly build a high tech car and let alone give proper estimated dates of delivery. Also they are stupid to launch all the regions at once with the GLE. One thing for sure, they better not do this again for future GLS or other vehicles. Do you guys see that they gonna stop making the C class here? Because this plant cannot keep up with demand...

My guess is that the "bad electronics issue" previously reported is the cause and they are waiting for replacement parts. They wouldn't finish production on a vehicle that is missing parts that are not easily installed off the line. It would be nice if this would make the national automotive news and they would be forced to give a more thorough explanation.

Only MBUSA (and MBUSI) knows for sure. The good news is they are aware of the issue and I'm sure working like hell to get things back on track. Likely it is a supplier issue and they are waiting for parts to be produced. Like I said, whatever it is must be easily retrofitted off the line - it's not something like gearboxes or E-ABC systems. Due to the lack of reported problems on this forum (to this point) it seems as the units they are shipping out are in good shape.

After seeing all these SUV's sitting in various lots across Alabama and more space being sought out for future undeliverable vehicles until proper parts are obtained….
1 thing came to my mind. Once the fix is procured and all's well to install the new parts in these vehicles, there's going to be a glut of GLE 450's on the market. Your typical supply and demand scenario.
Presumably, MB will try to control the flow of these vehicles to dealers to ensure that demand is barely met to keep pressure on supply. However, eventually, towards the end of the year, I see discounts offered more readily to buyers to get rid of inventory.
Fortunately for me, I hope, since my lease end in the middle of next year, I would be in a good position to benefit from higher discounts.

Since those older models are likely not affected by the current production issues (?), perhaps some of these cars are not waiting for repair but waiting for export for some reason?

Considering how long this has apparently been going on, how long it would take to transport all those vehicles to the fields outside of Tuscaloosa, and CFO Bodda Uebber's comment about a "three quarter plan" to rectify the delivery problems when he was speaking during the analysts phone call, it seems clear that none of us customers on this list, nor our dealers/sales associates, nor the "Executive Referral Managers" have any real knowledge. And the ones at Daimler/MBUSA/MBUSI have gone 'dark' and aren't talking.
Treating their customers, supporters and dealers this way is really shabby!
