Must have been because my build went through with the full package.

You're right about best tactics, but sometimes it's very hard when things have been permitted to drag out this way with nothing but BS coming from MBUSA. My dealer is more frustrated than I am.

Production supposedly was 1st decade February, but all these dates turn out to be very unreliable.

I originally visited the dealer GM on 10/05/18 with a list of specs for an AMG GLE 43. GM said 'I won't be able to deliver this before December or maybe January. Why not be a little patient and go for the 2020 GLE we can deliver it in Febrauary or March for sure (HaHa!) ... it's a real game changer'.

So I drank the Cool-Aid! But the problems with NetStar should have been a warning. For example, I wanted Acoustic Comfort and the Spoiler. Screen grab showed them being left out. I called, he put them back in and the Towing Package came off! We went through several rounds of this over the intervening weeks until my order lacked the Spoiler and the Acoustic Comfort package, but had the 3rd Row Package. (I've got 9 grandchildren, but I didn't want the 3rd Row). And at that point the order was locked! GM said, 'No problem, I won't have any problem selling your car, we can put a new order in!' By this time the Cool-Aid had taken effect and I rather liked the idea of having the first, or one of the first on Long Island and I didn't want to lose my 'place on line'.

So I guess I'm going to stick this out but I've looked at a fully optioned X5 40i. Doesn't have E-ABC, but does have rear wheel steering. Sportier ride and the rear wheel steering will improve the agility.
But I really want the E-ABC!

There is a dealer meeting next week and I'm hoping to get more concrete information out of that. We'll see.

Thanks for all the work you've put into this. It has been unbelievably helpful for all of us.

Just canceled my order. Dealer confirmed delay until December. Very bummed. Back to doing research.

Not all of them, just a number of options that were available, won't be until December. The upgraded leather interior being delayed was the last straw for me. Of course, E-ABC and a few other issues may be causing delays, but the order guide just changed to eliminate some interior options. If you're happy with the options remaining, you should still be okay. If you've ordered already, you might wish to discuss with dealer staff to see where you stand.

Not to disparage my salesman, but when I shared that if I opt to wait, maybe I'll transition to the GLE 580. His response was "What's that?."

2020 GLE450

Hey everyone,

Long time reader here, first time poster. Just wanted to start off by saying thank you to everyone who has shared all the information and experiences you have thus far, it's all been incredibly useful and educational. I also wanted to share my ordering experience in the hopes that it may give us some clues as to what is causing these massive production delays. I originally placed my order for a 2020 GLE450 with the base steel springs and without the MBUX technology package (as I know many have thought that either E-ABC or some component of the Tech pkg might be a cause for the delays) on 1/19 and was given a production date of 4/1. In early March, I was told that my production date had been pushed back to 4/13; this morning, my SA informed me that it's been pushed back yet again to 4/25. While I'm in no rush and I certainly have not been waiting for as long as many of you on here, I totally understand the frustration we all have with MBUSA's lack of definitive answers. I've attached a copy of my build sheet here as well.

Good luck to everyone who's still stuck in limbo!

April 5th Official MB Dealer Announcement Delivery Delays

This is the official MBUSA Announcement to dealers today regarding the GLE Production Delays at this moment.

FYI - from what I see in NetStar - the Scheduled Production Dates in NetStar are staying what they are at this moment - I have not seen any Scheduled Production Dates that have changed/moved-out over the past two weeks on existing orders and future orders - what this announcement says to me is once the GLE has shown completed - that's when your Dealer will know that GLE is being delivered.

Not much solace, but FINALLY they admit to their dealers there is an issue and some sort of an explanation. Still gives us waiting no real clue how long that wait is. Thanks for the info.

I work on aircraft engine (overhaul/maintenance), we constantly have problem with parts, supplier, government law issue. But we still deliver products on time. I think it’s a pretty lame excuse pretty much saying we will have some sort of open date delivery. But that’s just me, I am fine with a long wait if you communicate this to me before hand not after.

Two years ago when I placed order for GLS350 was the same, 4 months wait. One week before delivery dealer told me the diesel issue. Befor this I even ask them will this be a problem and they said no. Switching to GLE43 told me to wait another 4 months.

I agree 100%. This situation should be anticipated since it’s bound to happen with a redesign. Worst case you would expect some issues in the beginning but we are deep into the start of production. They were building preconfigured last year. I hope it’s just a supply issue. I’m going over mine very carefully if it arrives next week.
Greg, you may have forced them to write this.

I’d like to think I’ve played a small part, with my communications with CAC, the dealer contacting Distribution on my behalf, my letter to the vp of Customer Relations, my Twitter complaints. Probably the dealers exerted the most influence because they need to support their customers and also their sales are being impacted.

My dealer (in Canada) just informed me that apart from the unavailability of MBUX interior assistance, the trailer hitch is also currently not available.

This is not good, I wonder if I should cancel the order.

What the heck is going on? That would be a deal killer for me. I think an SUV loses the U without a hitch.

I think it goes without saying this is just causing the delay. You won’t get your car without the hitch. You’ll just get the car later.

Drove a loaded Audi Q8 today and bought it. Very nice. MB really kicked the GLE launch into the stands.

You all take care and good luck. If MB puts enough resources against the supply chain issues you'll be in good shape soon. I just didn't want to wait.

Good luck, nice vehicle. For me it was between the Q8 and GLE. With Audi you can buy an OBD11 for less than $80 and customize some of your settings. There is a thread about changes. Heres a link to the Q8 Forum.

I'm going to try hard NOT to check my build status until the end of the week! Could be "watched pot..." syndrome.

I can appreciate how frustrating it must be for you. It may be like a Domino Effect at the Plant. With JIT, one missing piece in the line can be a big issue. From all indications there is more than one just issue. I’ve resigned myself to the possibility that mine hasn’t really shipped. If it doesn’t arrive soon, I may join the group looking at other options. Being short one vehicle won’t work for us very much longer.
On another subject Mercedes is blaming the Sales drop in GLE’s on buyers that are waiting for the next Gen. No mention of shortages of prior Gen inventory or production problems since last year. The SEC doesn’t take kindly to misleading investors. The stock price was up again today so I sold mine.

Phoned dealer today and asked about my UK order, he said it was now showing as June 10th not May 31st, have told him that if not delivered in May I don't want it until September 1st. In the UK we have a registration change in September and it effects resale value.

Hallelujah!!

I just got a call from MBUSA CAC saying my car was completed Saturday and left Vance today! I can't believe it, and probably won't until it arrives.
