Production delays/ timeline
Our original build date was 04/10, then 03/30 (?!) , and now it's 04/14.
If that date holds, our dealer says it should be delivered by 04/24.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

Over the weekend I also got on my sales guy and the dealer sales manager. and told them they need to get on MBUSA, as well. Today I hear from my sales guy, who had called Distribution this morning and was told my order would be given "top priority" and should go B5 by the end of the week. He asked if my MBUX Tech Package or my designo trim selection was an issue and was told no. Apparently the sales manager also sent an email to Distribution and the West Coast Sales team explaining that a long time Mercedes customer was very unhappy and, what was going on?
So, at this point I will believe it when I see it. I must say if Mercedes handles all orders like this when there are production issues they are going down in reputation fast (and I will help!). Why NetStar can't be updated with a realistic best guess production date when the original one is not met I don't know, but it hasn't been in my case. I'm trying to keep the faith.
"Hi Dave,
Those GLE’s are holding for parts to build. And at this moment we do not have any eta.
Thanks

He asked if any options could be changed to improve the situation and was told "no."

My dealer just received their last Preconfigured stock GLE today after almost 5 weeks. Not only is production unpredictable but maybe shipping also.

As companies get bigger they seem to lose flexibility and accountability.

Distribution would not allow any option changes to improve the situation, however.

But now you have a major hiccup that would warrant giving those in limbo the option to build without that feature. For example, they did just that with the MBUX Tech package by removing the gesture recognition on the Preconfigured builds. (A minor change) At some level of Management this decision could be made and implemented but it might result in some downside for MB like an inventory build up of the component when it is available or wasted resources as people make the change to the production system.
I’m only speculating and there may be more to it. By my definition they are just “stalling” since they can’t or won’t provide a definitive answer to the dealer or customer. That’s never a good way to treat a customer.
