We ordered our GLE 450 4MATIC (no E-ABC) on 12/13/18 and just missed the February build dates.
Our original build date was 04/10, then 03/30 (?!) , and now it's 04/14.
If that date holds, our dealer says it should be delivered by 04/24.

There doesn’t seem to be anything logical about order dates and build dates. They may be juggling production to deal with some component constraints. Another factor is a dealer could have an order of their own pending that they were able to modify. Anyway good for you, your order was 3 1/2 months after mine and built only a week later.

Yeah, if that date holds. Mine certainly did’t.

He said it was built on 3-31, but might have meant scheduled to build.

Ask for production code status. B5 means it’s done.

California. The dealer thought they would get it within a day or two but later found out it wasn’t shipped. Not sure if I should trust them.

The wait goes on without end

So, I contacted MBUSA Customer Assistance Center a week ago and have had a couple emails & calls since with no information. So after another call to CAC today I finally get hold of the "executive referral manager" (fancy title, huh), who only told me GLE production has been on hold pending parts and he is trying to get more information. He was clueless beyond that.

Over the weekend I also got on my sales guy and the dealer sales manager. and told them they need to get on MBUSA, as well. Today I hear from my sales guy, who had called Distribution this morning and was told my order would be given "top priority" and should go B5 by the end of the week. He asked if my MBUX Tech Package or my designo trim selection was an issue and was told no. Apparently the sales manager also sent an email to Distribution and the West Coast Sales team explaining that a long time Mercedes customer was very unhappy and, what was going on?

So, at this point I will believe it when I see it. I must say if Mercedes handles all orders like this when there are production issues they are going down in reputation fast (and I will help!). Why NetStar can't be updated with a realistic best guess production date when the original one is not met I don't know, but it hasn't been in my case. I'm trying to keep the faith.
I knew it was too good to be true! Response from Distribution to my sales manager's weekend email.

"Hi Dave,

Those GLE’s are holding for parts to build. And at this moment we do not have any eta.

Thanks

Sincerely /Mit freundlichen Grüßen,

He asked if any options could be changed to improve the situation and was told "no."

My GLE is pretty much on schedule with a delivery date mid to late next week. According to my SA, once they get a date expected at dealer it’s almost always accurate to a day or two. “Fingers crossed”!
My dealer just received their last Preconfigured stock GLE today after almost 5 weeks. Not only is production unpredictable but maybe shipping also.

I'm feeling a little guilty! It’s hard to believe that Mercedes would handle your long overdue order so casually. Maybe I’m naive but it would seem that they would Be proactive with anyone experiencing a long delay. A $1000 credit for your trouble would be appropriate, IMO. They could also offer to build it without the feature causing the delay.
As companies get bigger they seem to lose flexibility and accountability.

Greg, that's an excellent letter and remarkably restrained. I'm in the same boat you are. My PO# is 0071759660 and includes E-ABC.

I texted my salesman today this evening and he checked up on netstar on my loaded GLE 450 with the AMG exterior package and air suspension that it was on time for production date of 4/7/2019 and delivery in 2 weeks afterwards! I loaded it with almost all of the options but I did not get the E-ABC. So I highly believe that its the E-ABC thats causing the delays guys,

What interior did you select? The best interiors just got delayed until December 2019.

I had to work hard to be restrained, but getting irate is usually not the best tact for results! What is your production date?

That may very well be the case. Maybe the factory that makes the motors burned down? Distribution would not allow any option changes to improve the situation, however.

That was my point earlier. Obviously they can make production changes but have a policy that they won’t and for good reason. If they allowed changes it would impede production efficiency and potentially hurt quality control.
But now you have a major hiccup that would warrant giving those in limbo the option to build without that feature. For example, they did just that with the MBUX Tech package by removing the gesture recognition on the Preconfigured builds. (A minor change) At some level of Management this decision could be made and implemented but it might result in some downside for MB like an inventory build up of the component when it is available or wasted resources as people make the change to the production system.
I’m only speculating and there may be more to it. By my definition they are just “stalling” since they can’t or won’t provide a definitive answer to the dealer or customer. That’s never a good way to treat a customer.

It's funny, the MBUX Tech package in the latest (4/2) DOG still includes the Interior Assistant. Maybe it was a short-term issue?

It is scheduled to arrive at the Dealer 4-11 +or- 2 days. My SA says that’s the case “almost always” but we all know this year is anything but normal. At least weather is less a factor now.
