My VIN was assigned a week or two before production. As I recall it’s not unusual for factory reporting to lag actual events.

Production does not always start within the scheduled decade. Ask for your current production status code. The VIN is assigned just at the start of production (B4 status). I had mine within 10 days of that date.

For me, there was nothing in their system up until the day it was finished. I was originally scheduled for the first decade of November. No status updates once the car was locked in. Just last week, it updated out of the blue as being completed... kinda took the fun out of waiting for the car. 😅 how long did it take for you to get your car once it was released to be shipped?

Mine was released for shipping the day after production completion, loaded on rail the day after that, and was at dealer in another 18 days (West Coast).

Took delivery of the substitute vehicle on Saturday 11/09/19. My original order is still B4...but we finally got a new GLE450 which is superb!!! Lots to learn and lots of fun. Been a long wait but the substitute is well worth the additional $$$. The 21inch offset wheels/tires are a home run!!!

Sadly, it looks like you were spot-on... I checked again with my salesperson today, and nothing has changed in status since my entry - looks like "B4 hell" is a real thing after all, lol. (No VIN assigned yet, either). Sorry for spreading false hope, everyone.

My car is "On Rail" now, I'm told it takes 5-business days max to get to the dealership once it reaches that status.

I should have my GLE 53 before the end of next week!

I finally got to see pricing today as well, they got the price sheet from their dealer portal.

However, their sales system hasn't been updated with the pricing info so I couldn't finalize anything today like I had planned.

It looks like I'm going to be the 1st person to take delivery of a GLE 53 in North America, I can't wait! =)

I feel like Mercedes has definitely got on top of their production issues.

My car entered production last decade of September (ordered beginning of August) and is set to be delivered Mid-November exactly on schedule.

Unless something like customs or rail strike etc. happens now, it should be on time.

Just over 1.5-months beginning to end. *fingers crossed*

So I finally managed to get to the dealership this morning to check out the car. First impression is wow, what a stunner. Inside and out it has far exceeded my expectations. My only gripe is that the leather in some areas such as the head rest and side bolsters are wrinkled and the stitching is not perfectly straight. Looking at this, you would think you were in a $9k car, not a $90k car. Aside from that, everything else just works. Every option is well thought out and there are a million functions and features that may sound silly but makes life so much more convenient. Only question is can you change the direction of the swipe for the track pad? Seems almost counter intuitive to swipe one direction and the icons go the opposite direction. Pics to follow once I get back from my weekend trip.

Sucks to hear about the crooked stitching, those kind of things bother me as well. Truth is, after a while you'll forget all about it.

Occasionally you'll notice it again and be like "Oh right, this stupid crooked stitching", but then you'll forget again.

Reverse in the up position on the shift stick and Drive in the down position is the one that trips me up all the time.

I'm taking delivery of my GLE450 next Saturday, 11/23 here in Boston. Ordered in late July/early August. It has been a minute - thanks to all who have kept this thread going.

I ordered the first Gle last December 2018, In July 2019 cancelled it and ordered the second one should went to production 2nd decade November no scheduled to be final inspected in 3rd week of December, to be delivered in Malta in Mid February 2020, thats more than 14 months
from the first order, Not good

That’s not good... At least you will get a car that has all or most of the problems ironed out.

No faith here out West. My sales lady told me it’s in production but no Vin. When I ordered my 63 it was 18 months of excuses.

They are waiting for the pricing to be input by head office into their sales system so we can work out the price and financing, should have it by next week!

Already figuring out the winter tire situation.
