There are two reasons to get them. My wife wanted them to help with entry and exit. I also found that without them there seems to be a lot of dirt and mud on the stepped portion of the lower panel of the entry. Nothing gets in the car but every time I wash I have to clean each (below door) ridge. Hoping the steps will reduce that mess.
i also purchased the low wall Mercedes cargo mat and a set of wheel locks. I was given 15% off without asking, a pleasant surprise. The Mat is very nice and matches the interior floor mats that I was given at purchase.
The 15mm stud guide bolt is currently unavailable and back ordered.
Good luck. I would be leery when they get the model wrong and also list 2019. Made in China, I assume?

The V167 is a 2019 in some Countries. I don’t see any other choice since Mercedes won’t sell me an OEM. I’ll compare to the OEM and I can always return them.

I agree with the good luck part. I had them taken off my 2016 as they made a mess of my clothing in the winter. Alway had a snow/salt mark on my pants. Wife had a gown on once for a Christmas party and we had to come home for here to change. As for easier access we found them too narrow to be useful.

Took them several hours of labor to get them off. I could not believe the number of parts that make up the system.

Thats why I didn’t order them on my build but my wife is convinced that they will work for her. Even without them it’s hard to exit clean. That nice lip protruding under the door is hard to avoid. I set mine to lower 2” when turned off and that helps me but not my wife.

I have persuaded a company to make a run of M15x1.25 stainless wheel mounting (guide) pins - should be done soon and I will post the link here.

Ever think about using studs/nuts instead of wheel bolts? Not sure how they would look on the suv but would make changing our wheels a lot easier.

Lug bolts vs. studs/nuts

Stud conversions are popular on performance cars where you are changing wheels a lot, but lug bolts are fine for the occasional wheel change on an SUV, IMO.

I've always thought it was just the Americans which have the car model year convention of one year ahead...

I have the regular grille on my GLE. Does anyone know if it’s possible to retrofit a diamond grille? If so, anyone have a part number?

Thanks.

They are not the same shape. So you have to change the whole front end, and it may interfere with the black plastic fenders too, so in short, no, you can't change grilles without changing the whole exterior to AMG-Line spec.

I love the Covercraft sunshades.

They're fast and you won't burn your hands when you take it down.

The foldable ones are much more convenient to put up and stow than the ones you roll up. These look really nice.

I bought this sunshade off of amazon. I have used these in the past for my cars/trucks and they are made really well. They are custom to our SUV & Cars.

Does anyone have the illuminated star installed on their new GLE? If so, can you post pics? Want to know if it’s one with the mirror finish or not. Thanks.

Illuminated star

It should be the same as the standard one, which is a chrome finish. Be aware this is not compatible with Active Distronic.

My Running Boards arrived today-6 days after shipping from China. I would bet money that these are OEM, maybe without the lighting haven’t dug through the contents yet.. The box has English and German bold print stating fragile so the packaging isn’t a one off box. They look exactly like the OEM and before shipping I was required to send pictures of my car to double check fitment. Now I’m nervous about using them since they are very likely out of the same factory as Mercedes OEM. They also include a complimentary set of roof Cross Bars....also verified by my measurements and picture. Communication was with someone with a good grasp of English.
I could put them on and no one would ever be the wiser but it seems like this may be illegal! Thoughts anyone?

I am not sure how these would be illegal? How many cars/trucks are modded with aftermarket stuff that is intended to be "off road use only" on the streets? You will be fine! Install them and post up pics!

The Chinese are great at knocking off a wide variety of products. Unethical, yes; illegal, only if they brand the knock off with a name brand or infringe on copyrights. As a rule, I avoid this kind of product, but you didn't know the details. I hope they work for you. Are the roof crossbars also identical to MB's?

These don’t appear to be Aftermarket but OEM that are probably covered by Patent. I doubt that Mercedes would like to find out that a Subcontractor is somehow selling their product that is likely covered by a legal contract to produce exclusively for Mercedes. Knock Offs are illegal so this might be even more so. I’m not a Prude but also not a fan of China stealing from other Companies.

Greg, We May both be wrong. Counterfeits are branded copies and Knock Offs are similar but not exact copies unbranded. These Running Boards are not a “knock off” they appear to be an exact copy of OEM, clearly illegal. IMO but I may be wrong. More checking required on my part. There is no way a Chinese Company produced this exact duplicate running board as a knoc off in such a short time. Could be done but not practical because demand will certainly be limited for a time.

Well if they don't have the lighting component, are they an exact copy? Mercedes parts have their identification, so if these do not, they may be skirting legality. The Chinese have not been great at cracking down on counterfeiters.
