The death of the dipstick
They're going away because most people are too lazy to get under the hood and potentially get their hands dirty checking the oil. It's marketing. Despite the fact that a dipstick is more reliable and quicker than an electronic gauge, that is the future, my friend! Heck, in the future even DRIVING is going away!

No need for dipstick with todays technology, you will get a warning when the oil level is low in the "old" days the only way to tell was by checking the dipstick.

Oil level
That low level warning is nothing new; it used to be a light instead of a message. Us **** retentive types want to adjust the level before it gets to that point, which is probably down a liter!

I wanna check my oil at every fill up just like I check my tire pressure with a good analog pressure gage.
PO they got rid of tranny dipstick...
This is crazy and has nothing to do with technology or make the car better... heck makes the car worse.
How does one know when the oil level sensor fails? their engine burned up....??

I have had a GLC43 for 27 months and NEVER checked the oil level.
Changed every year by dealer on service.

Is this 1975? Driving an old oil burner or leaker? Every time people check their oil they add pollutants to the oil from a paper towel or rag. Now everything is sealed closed.
i haven’t checked the oil in a car probably in 20 years.
MB Connect shows you the tire pressure in each tire within one second. Every time you check air pressure with an analog gauge you’re letting the air out of the tires.

Tire pressure sensors can be reset and how accurate are they?
I know accuracy of my analog gage as written on the back and I have bench tested at work once a year by QC guy cause I can.
I check the oil cause when you go 10,000 miles between changes I want to make sure she is full and did not burn any.
plus it allows me to open hood and check other things, fill windshield bottle, check brake fluid
I call it therapy and by no means do you have to do it...
Call it Car bonding.... JEEZEeeeee
