Customization of MBUX

Thought I'd start a thread to share different optimizations of MBUX, as I've done a few small things to make life easier but I know there is a lot more to customize, and would love to hear other ideas (Custom themes, drive modes, favorites, etc). I made "Seats" a Favorite and moved it to the first place in the favorites row (so I can switch on seat kinetics and endlessly change lumbar settings), and made "massage" a favorite in the second place, so I can access each easily by hitting the star button on the center console. Also, it's not MBUX related, but I realized I had to program the side passenger mirror to move down when I put the car into reverse (you then have to save this to your seat memory). Just a heads up in case anyone didn't know that. Anyone out there have any good customization ideas?

I can’t seem to figure out how to rename favourites in MBUX for GPS. I can navigate to it or delete it but couldn’t spot a rename option. Any ideas? I assume its possible...

I also could not find the option or if it’s possible to save a custom address to a personal POI either.

Press the favourite and keep finger on it, renaming option appears.

I tried this and a small options box popped up with an animation. After being held the box only has one command for delete but no option to rename a favourite. What am I doing wrong?

sorry I realised I was ambiguous - I meant favourites from a GPS destination. I can only see the address eg. "Anderson Street, Sydney" rather than an ability to rename it to something meaningful like "Joe's chicken".

If you navigate to a destination or select current position in navigation it goes into previous destinations, if you go into previous destinations and select it by keeping your finger on screen you get the option to save as favourite, name can then be changed in favourites as above.

Extremely easy. You hold a preset when you are on a station you like. Press a preset to change. I’ve only used SiriusXM but I assume it is the same for FM.

I couldn’t find one so I stop and shift into reverse for a second and then back to D.

There are two ways that I know of, per the manual.
  1. Engage reverse, then select the camera view from the options on the right side of the rear view camera screen
  2. Set it as a Favorite -- Press the Home button> navigate downwards twice and the Favorites menu appears (or use the Star button on wheel or console)> select New Favorite> select Vehicle> select Camera.
Edit: I just tried #2, but I didn't find Camera under Vehicle & System.

One way is to press the Parking button on the center console (has a P and a camera on it) It brings up the parking search screen, and gives you all of the options for the different cameras on the right side of the screen. Amazing car.

I tried 2 as well but couldn't find camera as detailed in handbook.

Yes, the Active Parking Assist button is the easiest way to access the cameras, though that's not described in the Camera section of the manual.

You can turn on cameras by press and hold vehicle button on the center console( between Parking Assist and favorites button)

Thanks Sadguy, best way of selecting camera, if in drive comes up with front camera.

Hmmm...that doesn't work for me. Pressing it brings up the Vehicle Settings menu, but pressing and holding does nothing.

Me also...doesn't work.

Correction it works when driving at low speed. Didn't work parked but maybe I didn't hold long enough.
