Mercedes splits each month into three 10-day periods, or decades. So, for instance, the second decade of September would be anywhere between Sept. 11-20.

Each month is divided up into three - ten day blocks. The first decade corresponds to the first ten days of the month, the second decade would be the second 10 days and so on.
