You may have better luck on the X166 forum as this is a newer generation X167 thread.

Having put on nearly 5000 miles in the 5 months I've owned my 450, I've noticed in the last 300 miles or so, my downshift issue isn't nearly as bad as it once was. I haven't been to the dealership so no idea why it changed. The only thing that has 'changed' is that I drove in sport mode a few times. Wonder if that has loosened anything up!

Yes I think you are right. Modern MB transmissions does adapt to the driving style somewhat so I am not surprised that was why. Do you floor the vehicle in Eco/Comfort or you feather the throttle in Sport mode? If so probably best to do the opposite so the car doesn't get confused, sport mode is good for spirted driving and not ideal for stop and go traffic for example. If you always floor in comfort mode then the vehicle thinks you always want to drive aggressively so it holds the gears and shifts the last minute leading to the downshift issue you are describing.

Can't say that I floor it or feather it. Obviously driving in sport mode I'll gas it a little more than comfort. Regardless, glad the shifting is better but still not as smooth as I'd like or expect from MB.

Either way, good to hear that it is more comfortable now for you. Enjoy your vehicle.

Test drove a new 2022 GLE450 yesterday. put quite a few miles on it. Could not simimulate the "shifting issue".
Car shifted smoothly in all modes. Obviously shifts are a tad more felt up or down in Sport Mode and there is the eq boost regeneration that I didn't feel at all.

I was happy with the car and ordering one.

We have an E550 and a 911-4S Cab. My wife’s GLE450 is as much fun to drive given the circumstance. Amazing car, good pick!

I have bought a new car from my dealer in Ukraine and from the first day I have issues with gearbox downshift.
For example, when I press a break almost every time my car has downshift kicks on (4-3-2 gear).

And I also hear some noise in my gearbox during downshift on 3-2-1

Please let me know if you have the same problem and how to solve it if you already did it.

P.S. I have visited my car dealer but he could not solve the problem, first of all they reset gearbox software but it did not help me.

I have a 2016 GLE450, and recently i am having shifting issues when i start my car. after a minute of going back from D1 to N then it goes directly to D3. Is this a computer issues or some recent recall. I have yet to make an appointment with my local dealer.

Post this on the W166 forum; this is for 2020+ GLEs.

Greg is correct that the W166 forum is the place to post your issues.

IMO the first step in troubleshooting is to Reset your transmission, so it "re-learns" your driving habits. Ask the 166 forum how to do this.
