Remove 2nd Row Headrest

My new GLE has third row seats, and the second row seats are powered. Unfortunately I cant figure out a way to remove the headrests so that my kids booster seats will sit flush to the seat back.

A forum search show some results talking about modifications to the headrest, but I don't think it applies to this model. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you try your manual?

Unfortunately that only applies to seats that are fixed / manual. My second row is powered (e.g. moved from door controls) so the headrest can only be moved by the controls. There isn't a button like that.

It may well be that they are non-removable, then. I assume they have a button on the side to move them fore/aft and you have adjusted back as far as possible?

Nope no button. That button was like that on my 2014 ML, but with the automatic headrests you don't see that anymore. Some of the other forums talk about opening the seat up and removing some kind of clip, but its on an older model.

My front powered headrest have the buttons. Anyhow, you may have to reach out to dealer service.

It can’t be done.

the cheapest option is to buy a new car seat.

the britax romer is the car seat that Mercedes put their logo on and charge double ;-)

I removed my back seat headrests (standard seats) and had complaints from adults that their head needed the support so put them back except for the center one. If you carry adults too you may have a similar issue with them removed. Even shorter adults need more support.
